Which Dog makes the best shop,, life, shooting companion?

There no doubt the one you have is a good one. Years past we had a hand full of Brittanies, there were charming , loyal, focused and dedicated. There are no more quail outside of those Ive released just to se and hear them. We always had a Chessie, now we have a pack of them. Some are very intelligent, some try to hide it, they all have their own personalities. Now its Sadie, Peri(Kniucklehead) and Diva. They are like taking an Abrahms tank to do your grocery shopping. They are loyalty knows no ends, and will do anything for you, if you can make them think its their idea. There are a few days for ducks and geese and Peri thinks the occasional fox or groundhog is a neat squeaky toy. Dont try to sneak out of the house with a gun!!! Just wouldnt feel right without them.

Holy dog crap Batman!! Seven pages of dog posts, -- on a gun forum. I doubt we'd get that many on a "I love my wife" thread.

Eddie Harren, I'm happy to see that you also have a GWP. Now if you'd send me one of your Remington Model 4's, we'd both have one of those.:p jd

Here's a couple pics of my dog Ellie. I found her last year sleeping in a roadside ditch. At the time she was about fifteen pounds under weight but otherwise healthy. She's turned out to be one of the smartest dogs I've ever had. Only problem is she's a little defensive and over protective of my wife and I. She is just now getting to where she will let other people touch her.

They're not for everyone, but the Yellow Black Mouth Cur is a versatile breed. My pups are about ready to get started with some serious training in the woods. The Ladner line has produced some great hunters.

Max, a.k.a. "The SuperMutt", passed away this past December 27. No pedigree, no papers, kept every secret he was told.....just a great Mutt. UPS guy was on Max's "Best Friend List", because of the large MilkBone brand treats that he brought with him.

Miss him every day. Great with kids. HATED Halloween, until the last two years, he finally figured it out.

A Buddy is a Buddy, pound rescue or paid high dollar. You make the dog, the dog makes you worship him.
Glad to see not many pits, and rotts, ( small penis) dogs in the crowd.

4789.jpeg this was my last dog. Her name was PennyLou. I rescued her. She was blind her last 2 years of life Back in March I had to have her put down. Kidney failure. Before her I was always a lab guy.

When I married my wife included in the deal was an awesome stepson and one of the smartest dogs I've ever met.....Barkley was a Maltese/Australian Sheppard mix....He wasn't big but he ruled the neighborhood.....

He passed away about 2 months ago after he got hit by a car at the age of 13......He was totally deaf and blind in one eye but his nose took him anywhere he wanted to go. Tears come to my eyes every time I mow around his grave. We miss him very much!

My mother was a greyhound rescuer. These retired race dogs make for fantastic pets.....They are very docile and just love to relax....but don't let them get loose with a rabbit near buy! They are gone in a flash.

Here is Haji doing what he did best......

If you like bigger dogs and have the room for them I highly recommend rescuing a greyhound. They make for an excellent pets.

This was my girl, Sadie Mae, the best dog/companion I've ever owned. She was smart, loyal and dedicated to me, she loved to retrieve and was a joy to watch work in the field. The only thing she wouldn't retrieve was a starling, she picked one up and spit it out and sat down beside it. When I called her she wouldn't budge, just sat there. So I walked to her and she wouldn't look at me when I walked up, she just sat and looked at the ground like she was in trouble. I patted her on the head and told her to go, she was like a kid that had been told they weren't grounded anymore. She was also a big girl 88-92 pounds when she was in her prime. Many people thought she was a male because of her head and size. I had to put her down almost three years ago and I still miss her terribly.

Now this one.........well he's really not good for anything but just being a dog and hanging out in the shop with me. I don't even know what he is, he showed up as a pup on Mothers Day morning about 7 years ago and has been here ever since. He had been digging moles before this photo was taken.

German Shepherds for us. We have had 3 the last two lived to be 13. Still get weak kneed every time I see one. The last pairs best friend was a stray cat that showed up and hung around here for 15 years they went every where together. I believe the cat thought it was a dog. That cat would go with my wife scouting deer. Miss every dog I have ever had!

One Rhodesian Ridgeback, rescue dog, best damn dog i`ve ever owned.

Hunts EVERYTHING, nothing is safe from her, amazing family dog.

And 2 Boerboels, @ around 175-180lbs. a piece ain`t nothing getting in here........

Sorry to hear about your dog. Very sad indeed.

My cocker, Gus, is a lot bigger on the inside than he is on the outside. He just wants to be next to me in the house and will level a field if that would be what it takes to find birds.
