Which 6? GT, XC, XC II, Creed, C47???

Maybe this gives a little perspective:
IMG_5244.jpeg
6 Creedmoor, 6.5x47 case, 22GT (formed from 6 Creedmoor), 6 Dasher, and 6 BR.

All this arguing about 6XC and 6 Creedmoor when the XC literally splits the difference between the Creedmoor and the x47. Go with the one that gives you warm fuzzy feelings. Personally, I went 6.5x47 because of its reputation for exceptional accuracy and longer barrel life than any six larger than a 6 BR.

To a certain extent that's true. The 6xc is basically a 6x48.

I would say, I don't think I saw anyone "arguing". Just people saying nice things and approving of the 6xc and others saying snarky things in response. For some weird reason.

No real offense meant - I think it's easy for people to get wrapped up in what are actually very small differences and when you have these cases in your hands, you realize it's not really worth stressing over. I don't think there is any real difference between the 6 creedmoor, the 6 XC, and the 6x47. The 6 GT seems closer to the BR family in size, to me.

I've heard many GOOD Things about, the Accuracy of, the 6-47 Lapua ! ( A Close Cousin for, Sure ! )
I've also heard about and watched the development of, D Tubb's, 6 XC and read about, the 3 guys
( Dennis DeMille, David Tubb and German Salazar ) winning 4,.. 1,000 Championship's around, 2015 or so !
I guess that, I was, "Brainwashed" about, the Latest, greatest, Cartridge, THEN,.. LOL !
Now, I "hear" that, the 6 GT is,. "Better" !
I probably WON'T sell, my very accurate, 6 XC and build One, tho, as the 6 XC,.. "Gets it Done" for, Me.
However, when my .22-250 barrel goes South,.. I Will build,.. a .22 GT,. and CHASE,.. the Latest Fad !
Like Evan said,.. there's very LITTLE Difference, in most of,... the Bigger 6's !

The GT is actually the latest fad as you said. If Lapua makes brass for it, I say awesome, I'm on board.

But honestly, it's the real "tweener" here. A lot of fuss to save 4 grains of H4350. But hey, I got nothing bad to say. Other than I really don't think it will outshoot a 6br or 6xc. But I'm willing to be proven wrong.

The 22 GT seems to be pretty darn awesome. And just about the right size.

If you’re building a hunting rifle and use a box magazine the 6XC feeds like butter with the slight taper. Non tapered cases work fine in a single stack magazine. I have 3 6xc rifles. All shoot excellent but my 10twist is about worn out with 70gr blitzkings. Thinking a 22Xc sounds really fun.

I agree, it’s a really nice size for anyone who wants more than a 22BR can give, or needs it to feed from a magazine without modifications.
Yup,. I'm hoping that, the .22 GT feeds "Well", in my ole'1981 model Rem., 700, Short action !
I need the .22 GT to push, the 50 grain, V-Max, Bullet at, 3,550 fps,.. Accurately !
or, better yet, the 53 V-Maxes at, 3475-3500 max fps !
That's the Max speed / Bullet weight, combo that IS, necessary to, control the "muzzle jump", in my 8 Pound, walking Varmint rifle and still be able to see, the "Splodies", on Sage Rats / PD's, & R. Chucks.

I don't think it is thought of as better, just more like a BR style cartridge.

You can do those speeds with a 22br. The 22gt will shoot the 53vmax at closer to 4000 fps. Screenshot_20250331_173248_Messages.jpg

My sentimental favorite and still a good choice is the 6BR, accurate and easy to tune, same with all of the 6BR variants.

I also have an affinity for the 6.5x47 case. I’ve owned two 6x47s, one built by Jon Beanland and one by Zack at ODCR. They get the job done, also accurate and easy to tune. I sold the Beanland in a weak moment but still have the ODCR, 21” barrel that I shoot surpressed. Fun little rifle!

"Distance absolutely. Hunting deer, varmints, pigs, and of course banging on steel. Doubtful that I would compete in matches. I am more interested in which version is easier. And of course, I want it to be accurate."

I took my 243W out this weekend to test a new magazine. They had it 99% figured out in 1955.

Maybe this gives a little perspective:

@ Evan,..
The One on, the Far right and the One, In the Middle, Look, real GOOD to, me as, I Like, Long Neck's
( Keep's the Boo'let, OUT of, the Doughnut Zone and you can, "Chase" the Lead as it, "Moves" ) and the 30 to 35 Degree shoulders ( Burns, Powder, efficiently ) I'll look real Hard at, the .22 GT and .22 BR for my .22-250 rem.,..
"replacement", Barrel !
I Want a smaller Powder capacity case than the .22-250 ( To keep, the Velocity Down to sub 3,550 fps for My, "Holy Grail" Load, w/ 50 to 53 gr. bullets, producing NO, Recoil / Barrel JUMP in my, 8 pound, Rifle ) a cart that, still, Feed's "well", in a Rem 700 Short action WITHOUT, a Ton of "Modifications" to, the Magazine
( Cutting the Follower and adding, a Spacer is, okay )
Thus, the .22 BR and .22 GT, ARE, candidates.
