Just a heads up for XC shooters, I was in Bruno's Shooters Supply yesterday and he has new shipment of 6 XC Norma brass available. Rick

David Tubb has norma 6XC brass in stock for $94.00 per hundred. I just ordered 200 and received in four days. see website below:

Good shooting,

I need to get some... BUT i wont order anything from Brunos. That website is horrible to shop on. Doesnt show in stock availability, or shipping cost if i remember right.... i got pissed off a few years back because i ordered something and it was out of stock but it didnt say it was and i didnt get it in a timely manner at all... then they are hard to get on the phone as well... wont do business with brunos.. just my deal though... wish they would fix all that and get it going to be more customer friendly.

Bruno wants $107.50.

Tubb wants $94.00

Both are for 100 pieces. $13.50 difference before shipping. Bruno might have a new website but they are still the same old company!

Just got done with my first attempt at forming 6XC Brass from 308 win BHA match brass. Piece of cake.

I bought a Redding 7mm-08 body sizing die and took off .115" of length off the bottom with my grinder, then beveled the opening with my dremel. Took abot 5 minutes. After annealing the cases, I simply ran them through the modified 7mm-08 body die which was set to knock the shoulder datum line back to 6XC specs. With the new shoulder set, I then removed the decapping stem from my Forster 6XC FL sizing die and ran the case in it. Out came a perfectly formed 6XC case with an extra long neck. Trimmed the neck to 6XC specs and ran through FL sizer with decapping rod expander ball re-installed. Whammo. Got a beautifully formed 6XC case that only cost as much as a 308 win piece of brass. My chamber is a no-turn, but of course necks will have to be turned for tight neck chambers. I will probably turn my necks as well because they may be too thick with a bullet seated. But I haven't got that far yet.

Anyhow, its a relatively simple process as far as case forming goes. Just a heads up for those who want to save some money by using highly available and affordable 308 brass

Damn, the last time I bought 6XC brass it was $55 per 100.

Lots of things were cheaper in the 50's! Jk! Everythings crazy expensive now-a-days...

Thats exactly why I decided to buy a $30 die and modify it to form my own cases.

Could even get Lapua 308 brass for less money to make 6XC cases. Then you will have brass that is much better than Norma.

6XC Norma brass is now $89/100 from SSS.
As far as the perception that Norma brass as being inferior Lapua. I would offer that it will be hard to find a similar cartridge with better case dimension runouts and head hardness than the Norma 6XC. Norma is owned by RUAG which makes the 6x47 case at about $1.50+ each..

Dimesnsionally I believe Norma is very good quality brass. But I highly doubt a Norma primer pocket could go toe to toe with a Lapua primer pocket under maximum pressures and last as long. Every long range BR shooter I know will only use Norma as a back-up to Lapua brass for this reason. Unless the manufacturing process has changed for some companies, no other manufacturer matches the primer pocket integrity of Lapua.

Not saying that Norma brass is not top quality in many ways, but when they start pricing it close to the cost of Lapua brass, I would choose Lapua every time. If Norma claimed to have improved their head hardness as you state and maintained their cheaper price advantage over Lapua, I would be willing to try them again. But they keep driving their prices up and up. This is all just my opinion from having used both brands.

I bought 700 pieces of Norma 6XC brass in 2005. I am on my third Schneider 7.5 twist polygonal barrel and still have 300 pieces of brass unfired. I have pushed it pretty hard and have not thrown a single piece of brass away due to loose primer pockets.

Good to hear that :)

But at the new price point of Norma brass, I would still prefer to form it from Lapua 308 if wanting to spend that much money. Lapua also offers the 308 Palma brass with a small primer pocket which many see as an advantage as well.

I have had good luck with Norma 6xc brass. I have 50 cases I have loaded 9 times and still going strong. I due anneal every sec loading.

I agree that the Norma brass for the 6 XC seems to be of good quality, although I have good luck with Lapua. I'm using older Norma brass going on 10-12 times loaded and only had a few primer pockets go bad. I have pushed some hard with 115's and they seem to not last as long. I'm like everyone else the price today is a hard swallow but I bought some Lapua 221 FB brass a few months ago and cost 0ver $70 a box. as said everything cost more today.

Primer Flash Holes - 6xc Re: 6 XC brass Now Available

What is the general opinion of whether or not to ream/uniform primer pockets and/or flash holes in the Norma 6XC brass?
