Our check went out yesterday along with a bunch of prayer. This gonna take a LONG time and everyone needs to kick in.

I have family members that live in the affected areas and have been sending funds directly to them. I trust them to share with others that may need it more. Though direct donations may not qualify as an itemized tax deduction, I plan to claim them anyway.
For those using entities like Sharing House, remember to record/document your donations as they likely will be considered qualified deductions on your tax return. It’s sad that the tax money we’ve already paid isn’t freely flowing to our fellow citizens!

Today things are humming up there--it seems there is a ton of online misinformation about FEMA etc--some pretty negative--it is all from off shore - mostly BS -from what I know hearing from countless friends there --there is plenty of help and the spirit of true giving and neighbor helping neighbor is one for the record books--NC has a lot of tough days ahead but we are so very grateful to folks all over the country that have pitched in and continue to help.

Man it's been awesome seeing people helping each other. Samaritans purse has made a huge impact. Shout out to them. They dropped 35 generators in my community. Between a couple drops.

Local church I drive by on the way to my church. Water has to be 30-35ft deep to the river bottom. Normally ankle to chest depending on the hole.

I watched Dolly and Wallmart in a News Clip, she donated 1 million and I believe another million from Dollywood for a total of 2 million and the ceo from Walmart donated 8 million then before the show was over pledged another 2 million. I’m about as far away from you guys as one can get in Washington state, I live on the banks of the Grande Ronde River and have went through a couple floods in my lifetime and thought it was bad until seeing your devastation….. my thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. I have been wondering why Elon Musk never unlocked his satellites for all you guys back east but I hear your slowly getting cell and internet back but having it right away would have been huge. Gods Speed to you all.

Elon gave us free starlink for how ever long. One of his SpaceX guys handed me one personally. Says they've slept on couches together. He talked about how Elon honestly doesn't care about money. Dr Phil was on that Blackhawk too. Dr Phil, the SpaceX guy and Edward Graham (Billy Graham's grandson) handed one personally to a local church just below the fire department.

This may have been thorn broadheads or post office in Micaville I haven't been down there but once to check on my Mother in law since. I stole this pic. The old Taylor Togs building in the back ground.
Water was about 5ft inside this store front at OC whitsons country store. The land extended out where you see the rocks. There was once a building there also a couple weeks ago. This is about 3/4 miles below the church in the above post

The pic in the above post with the whitson store which is the building furthest left in the pic also has post office and a church in a line together. My Fire dept crew and I personally cut in to this little community hub. There is a road and small community on the right that had a huge concrete bridge which is now gone. It was for unimin shipping and allows semi trucks to go over and homeowners across the river. A rope and a boat allows supplies to go over there now. In fairness the big two lane concrete sections were just setting on the concrete pylons which are now gone but still they were 25ish foot above the river. Large trees piled up against it and pushed the bridge off.
Samaratins purse is usually first on scene at all these disasters. Good group, donations go to people that need it not some fat cats salary.
I stole this. But its 100% true. One Redneck with a Truck and Excavator in a situation like this, is worth more than 10 PHD's On site working before others even know what has happened.
Nice thing about Rural folk, We don't wait on someone or group of someones from the Govt to come help us. We will help our self and then go help someone who needs it.
All my fiends in that side of the state made it through. Brings us hope that we can still provide support when its really needed.
