Mississippi tornadoes disaster relief

I posted a response on the other thread, but I thought my response might deserve it's own thread for more people to see. Here was my response there. I hope some of my fellow shooters/reloaders can help pitch in however they can to help in any way they can for any/all affected communities in the South.

It's bad in the Rolling Fork/Silver City area. VERY bad. I've been on the phone with various people/organizations (Cajun Navy/FEMA/Operation BBQ relief/Salvation Army among them) about the devastation that occurred there and the needs of the communities in that area and I will be heading down there next week to do my part. I am the lead volunteer/logistics coordinator for a small group out of Eastern Iowa that goes to areas affected by natural disasters and we provide food relief for affected residents, first responders, clean up volunteers, National Guard members, etc. Basically anyone that needs a free hot meal, we are there for them.

I have been to TX after the historic winter storm/freeze, LA after hurricane Ida, Western KY after the tornadoes in Dec. of 2021, Eastern KY after the historic floods in 2022, and in FL after hurricane Ian. I donate my time and some of my resources and I pull a smoker/grill behind my personal truck and get supplies and coordinate with local people and resources. Many times I have had to sleep in my truck because sometimes there just aren't any rooms available anywhere or there is no power anyway. You do what you have to do. Luckily my workplace is very understanding and lets me take unpaid leave when I do these missions. I know not everyone has that luxury.

If anyone cares to see what we do, how we do it, you can see this story here on FB about our group. I'm the old guy in the sunglasses. Jonathan Petramala Storyteller

If anyone can spare a few dollars or a few hours of their time, please help out if you can by donating to your favorite organization that is currently there helping. Volunteering has been a passion of mine for many years and let me tell everyone, there is nothing you can do that brings you more satisfaction and self pride than donating your time in helping others in need during times of great crisis. Those who know what I mean, know what I mean.

If anyone wants to directly donate to our mission, you can visit the FB page here Facebook - Willie Ray's Q Shack and look for the info on how donations can be submitted. Thanks for your time.

As an update, we will be in Rolling Fork, MS serving free hot meals from Wednesday next week through Easter Sunday and possibly through the middle of the next week. I have been coordinating with the local organizations and resources and it sounds like we will be setting up on the West side of the Hospital in Rolling Fork and will have free hot meals available to any/all that want to stop by for a meal, so if any of my fellow shooters/reloaders want to stop by, please do. Here's a few pics of our group serving meals in North Fort Meyers, Florida after the Hurricane and in Jackson, Kentucky after the historic floods.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Aim small, miss small. Peace out.
