I Would like to just say thanks to 6mmbr and accurate shooter for all the info these pages provide in december of 2012 I bought my first hunting rifle and soon after could not buy ammo for it. So I took on the challenge of reloading ammo. I quickly bought reloading equipment and found that reloading quality ammo takes more skill then just buying some powder bullets and and slapping it together. With the help of this website I now have the knowledge to assemble top quality ammo that is suitable for any type of shooting. I would like to say thanks. I intend to start shooting at the local br 600 yd event and enjoy shooting as a hobby.

Rcbs precision mic
I have been using precision macs from RcBS for quite a long time.
I have quite a few of them; about 10 I think.
The last one I bought is in 6mm Remington. Yesterday I was trying to measure the lands on my rifle and run into more problems than usual with tool. The nylon
Portion cannot be easily tightened and the steel tip was getting lodged in the lands and being pulled back out somewhat thus giving false reading.
I finally managed to get it right but as a result became very suspicious.
Later in the evening I started reading reviews on the tool with a view to buying a different brand to double check and that's where the problems started.
I found a reviewer who actually did the same tHing and found the rcbs tool to give a false reading to the lands and as he claimed giving a longer freebore value.. First thing I did I measure the internal diameter of the land nut that references the ogive on t he bullet. I measure my 270 mic as I have a Sinclair tool that does the same with a calliper and found them to be different.
The rcbs internal diameter was .2715" and the Sincliair tool was .2635".
I have to try and measure the lands by a traditional method with a homemade aol device and check all my mic's.
Has anybody been down this pathetic with the rcbs precision mic.

Hi, Ron here. I have been re-loading for several years, but consider myself a basic re-loader. On here to learn some innovative ways to reload. I shoot 6 Creed, 260, 7WSM, 7RH, 338 RUM and 338 LM. I reload and don't buy factory ammo.

I've been handloading for 25+ years and I still feel like a rookie. Everytime I think I've got it all figured out, I hear about a new tool or scale or something. I've got some property in the Texas hill country and have a range set up out there but its been so hot lately I haven't been out there. I don't load pistol ammo but I've got a 22-250, .257 Weatherby, 7mm mag, 30-06 and a custom made 300 win mag. They keep me busy enough. I spent most of my career working for myself. I've been involved in a number of different businesses; some worked and some didn't. For 18 years I owned and ran The Hunting and Fishing Shows in Texas. I had shows in the Astrohall, Dallas convention center, Palmer Auditorium in Austin and several other venues. If you have to work, that was a pretty good job. Now I own some cattle in Colorado and have a company in Houston that cleans out the build up concrete in concrete trucks.
I'm looking forward to learning a bunch from you guys and will try and contribute any way I can.
Oh, I forget; I've got another rifle. I just bought a Savage .17 BMag. Haven't even shot it yet.

Hi all,
I have just recently got into reloading for my 6.5x47L, as I was at it I thought I might as well start reloading for my .223 as well. It is proving to be a very interesting extension to my shooting hobby and although it is frustrating (and expensive) to start with I am moving in the right direction and getting some good results, plenty of room for improvement though and this site is proving to be a mine of good information.

I have been talking but I have yet to introduce myself. I shoot Swedes. A 1903 M96 and my baby a 1941 Husky M38. I live in Germany, and regularly shoot in county and state competitions. Still hunting the elusive trophy but I am working toward it. We shoot 13 rounds at 100 meters with open sites. The worst 3 count as sighters and the best 10 are recorded. I average 95/100 but I wish to do better, that is why I am here. I love reloading and can spend hours doing it, much to my wife's annoyance. I joined this sight so that I can learn from others, as I am a novice when it comes to understanding the finer points of shooting. Please teach me.
