Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Well I've been lurking around here for a while now and learned a lot and wanted to be able to join in at times.

I grew up on a farm in upstate New York in the 1960's and of course one of the big things as a kid was woodchuck hunting. A typical exchange the first day of school would be “I got 42 chucks this summer!” “Ha ha I got 55!” My dream rig was a Remington 40X in 222 and a huge Unertl scope. Had to make do with 22's.

Moved to Alaska when I was 15 and up here if you can't put your thumb down the muzzle it's not a real rifle. Many times I went out “plinking” with my dad's 300 Win Mag or 03A3 and my best friend would bring along his 375H&H.

I have been a proud Gun Freak all my life. Besides the usual hunting/shooting/reloading I have dabbled in High Power and am now plotting to build an F class rifle. Current varmint/target rifles are Ruger 77 in 220 Swift and a Savage 110 in 223.

new to the forum

Howdy everybody!

I just got into the reloading business, so i figured i join a forum. I am only 23, so a lot of things are new to me... Bought my first gun about a year ago and have been hooked over since! I am currently reloading 45 auto, 9mm, .223/5.56(most recent gun), 243 win 30-06, 300 RUM, and 375 RUM(first gun). I also have a 17hmr that is fun also.

I hope to learn a lot and share some of my own reloading experience!

Josh

Hello All,

I started reloading in 1950 when I bought a Winchester Model 43 in .218 Bee. I no longer have the Bee :( , but I reload for a number of cartridges from the .204 Ruger to the .30-06 Springfield.

I recently wrote a book about reloading titled "Cartridge Reloading in the Twenty-First Century." It's published by the same people that publish the "Shooter's Bible." I wrote it primarily to encourage potential handloaders to take the plunge.

Hello to all! I am so glad I found this forum. It is very nice to be in the company of other advanced reloaders. I feel I have a lot to contribute to this forum, and I also feel I can learn a lot here. It will be a pleasure interacting with you. Dan

Good Morning all... glad to part of the forum. I am a newly re introduced competitive shooter. During my military career I was NRA Master Pistol, NRA three gun, and four year US National Service Pistol Team - US Army with points on Distinguished. I have recently gotten he bug again and am tinkering with F Class and target shooting. Currently acquired a MIL spec 5R on 700 action that is on a BC A5 stock. Gun accurized by George Tossen. Have reloaded for many years and love to shoot. Hope I can contribute once again to the sport.

Hello, all! I am a retired individual with corporate, military and LE background. I am a lifetime shooter and reloader, interested in all shooting sports, currently focusing on action pistol USPSA/IDPA. Being retired I finally have the time to shoot matches weekly, with frequent practice sessions thrown in. I shoot about 15k pistol rounds a year, and maybe 1k through my ARs/AKs. Wish I could spend more time on my rifles, maybe next year!

Hello all,
Retired USAF 26 years. Fairly new to precision loading for long range shooting. Loading .308 for a Rem 700 5R, 11.25:1 twist in a 24" barrel, Vortex Viper PST FFP MRAD, 6-24 optic. Also loading 9mm and .45 on a Dillon 550B for plinking/practice. Looking forward to contributing where I can, and learning lots.

Hello All. Retired engineer (semiconductor research/mfg). Life-long hunter. Been reloading high-power (223R & 30-06) since starting to compete in various service rifle events about 10-yrs ago. Then included the hunting rifle (7mm-08), followed by match rifle (6mm - Turbo40Imp) and BPCR (38-56 & 40-65). Started shooting F-Open with an Eliseo Rem 700 SA in 6.5x47L this past summer and trying to decide if I want to go up to a Win .284 or down to a 6mm Dasher for my next build. Great forum where I've found lots of help, which is much appreciated. Have a great holiday season and keep 'em in the 10-ring.

Hi. I'm Bill. My shooting history goes way back but I was out-of-it for about thirty-five years. Three years ago a friend got me excited again and I got out all my reloading stuff, then set it up. I'm interested in accuracy and have recently ordered a used Savage 116 in 6.5-284. Not too sure how it will shoot and might actually end up with a different barrel but I'm excited about loading some rounds in my new Lapua brass.

I also have a Savage 12 in 22-250, which is a tack-driver and led to my wanting another Savage action. Additionally I recently built a couple of AR's: a 10 in .308 and a 15 in 5.56.

For reloading I use a Rock Chucker and a Lee Classic Turret and also like to, periodically, load with a Lee Loader but then I limit myself to about twenty rounds. I find that system frustrating because I like to do one process at a time and Lee wants you to finish one round from start to finish. For this reason, in addition to the Redding dies I've bought for the 6.5, I'll probably be buying some LE Wilson dies.

I did not do that now because I just basically like the feel of the bench tool over the mandrel press or, worse, a hammer; though they definitely have their place.

My goal for the upcoming year is to set myself up to shoot over 500 yards

I'm also taking lessons in gunsmithing from AGI

Hey everyone! I've been reloading pistol for a while and am taking the leap into loading rifle. I hope to learn a lot here.

Howdy all!

Josh Rizzo from Texas here. Been shooting local 3 Gun matches for about a year now. Our longest match shot was 600 yards with .223 and it's got me itching to get into long range shooting. Found this forum when looking for information to help me with load development on my new rifle. Looking forward to talking with y'all!

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, good to be here. I enjoy target shooting and hunting. I've been reloading only for the past 2 years and has become one of my favorite free time activities besides shooting. It is good to be amongst reloaders and shooters. My favorites to reload are 223, 260, and recently the 6 br. :)

hello , my name is John, I'm new to the forum. I like hunting , shooting & reloading . I'm not going to get into what I have but I enjoy the toys immensely. I've been a gun owner since 2005 at the urging of my father in law.Boy was that a mistake. Since then he and I have traveled all over the U.S hunting and enjoyed every bit of it . I am looking forward to reading the posts as well as asking questions and being a contributor .

Harry here.
Been a shooter / single stage reloader for 35 years. Loaded everything from 22-250 to 45-70 and have really enjoyed myself.
The last four years I've spent most of my time with AR-15s. Just got a LMT MWS with a 18" SS barrel and we are still getting acquainted.
Fun process.

Glad to be here and hope to contribute at some point.
