I like the title of this thread because of all the search engine hits it will get when people are looking for information on “Class Action” lawsuits. Good free advertising for the forum.

Statement from Ivan Wells about the Vudoo on the Hide!

So I have to ask, will every rifle be built and tuned by Ivan Wells? I mean everyone who follows RFBR knows who Ivan Wells is and his ability and skills. anything he accomplishes will it be mirrored with production rifles?

Lee, this answer isn't directed at you, I know you know all of this.

Anyone that is in this game knows the answer is No. Before I go any further and people get butthurt, let me say that competition in the market is great. It's always good for manufacturers to push each other. This is not a knock on Vudoo as I have one of their repeaters and it is a nice rifle.

That being said, the action in an of itself is not a simple make or break it component. It is a part of a "system" (Ivan's words many times to many people). Most of us know that a winning rifle is more than any one component. It is about ignition (of course part of the action), barrel, and ammo along with other details like bedding, solid rest fit, etc. Ignition isn't just something that always works out of the box. Maybe this version will be better, but I suspect it will still require tinkering at some level once a complete rifle is put together.

Mike made a good choice in working with Ivan to work out any kinks and to put together his first true BR rifle and more importantly first real test results. By that I mean in Ivan's tunnel.

That being said, Ivan is one of the best builders, tuners, etc there is in this game. He will wring every ounce of potential out of the "system". I have no doubt that when done, it will compete with any rifle out there. If it won't, Ivan won't put it out there because it will be a reflection on him.

So of course, hours and hours and hours of work will go into this one rifle just like every other great rifle out there. Most of us in the game will not be convinced that this action is superior to any of the other available actions until we see consistent winning. IF people start buying these actions and they start winning just by slapping a barrel on them and not having to go through 5 barrels to find a great one (notice I said great, because good doesn't cut it in this game), then we are on to something.

I know Vudoo has a big following and for good reason, but this is apples and oranges to what the repeater market is.

Time will tell, but I hope people don't expect Ivan like results from a factory gun. I think you will be sorely disappointed. Then again, if you don't understand what it means to have a gun from Ivan, then you will most likely be more than thrilled with a complete gun. That's not to say Vudoo won't put out great guns, I just don't think they will be the equivalent to what you will be reading results about in this particular case.

I will be as interested to see what the other gunsmith's think once these are out in the wild and more people are building custom guns on them.

I posted Hi-NV's question on SH earlier today, now it is answered - Ivan will not be building the "production" rifles. [So much for wishful thinking.] I also asked two other questions. Hopefully one of the folks in the know can answer (edited after the AS "answer", above):

1. Since Ivan appears to be the key 3rd-party developer/tester, presumably he chambered that rifle. If that is correct, whose chamber reamer - on of his proprietary ones or what is shown on (at least) my invoice, "Vudoo target chamber" (which I was advised will be the production chamber)?

2. What is the length of the flat sections of the 11mm dove tails? [My preferred rings are .750 "long".] See rendering on SH, post #276 (https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...-single-shot-br-f-class-action.7001695/page-6).

Thanks.

Jamie,

Excellent post. this is exactly why I post my questions. it was in no way a knock on this new action/rifle. as Mike knows my views of how with everything equal (action wise) the barrel, chamber and ammo will determine how well it will shoot. then it will be the end user as it has always has been, to make it all come together come match time.
