Vudoo V22S SS BR/F Class Action

Well we shall see how this works out. I am sure if needed Mr. Ezell will lend me an assist as he certainly offered when we chatted in length. I am well aware and he did say that for final fit it would have to be bored. I was not planning or under the impression that it was just going to be slapped on. I have reputable smith near me that is more than capable of boring it for perfect fit/installation. You guys are kinda scaring me though.

Suggest you do a bit more research...Google "Purdy perscription". Harrell, JNL, and Holeshot tuners are bored to fit your actual barrel OD at and near the muzzle and the exact length of breech face to muzzle face. You need the barrel in hand to measure. Why the length? - read the Purdy info (its to get the correct tuned length before you even install it - huge time and ammo saver). Sounds like your selected tuner supplier does not offer/include the boring (ID and length of bored hole). I did not drill down if you provided more info as far as your application but KSS is the source many use for a tuner - https://www.killoughshootingsports.com/147-benchrest-rifle-tuners

Appreciate the link and info. I will certainly read up more and chat with Mike Ezell regarding it. Again thank you.

Hold the press.

Jerry Smith shot a 2500 ARA card today down in the swamp with a brand new Vudoo 22S build.

First match and first card and first perfect target. Can't beat that.

Congrats Jerry.

Wow! That is friggin awesome.

Any details on his Vudoo and chosen ammo?

Awesome news. This was with a borrowed Vudoo built at Vudoo, not by a popular BR smith. Shilen Ratchet, Vudoo/Flavio Trigger, Holeshot Tuner, Rotex stock and Midas +.

I went out yesterday to sight in my scope after changing to a higher ring and just test some Center X and Eley Tenex and some SK standard sprinkled in..This is with the 16lb spring and no adjustments in tuner from my Eley black that I’ve been shooting.

Boy its been awhile since anyone posted. Hope all are well.

So finally my V22s barreled action arrived along with the stock, I get it tough times not complaining on the wait. Mr. Randy Owens knocked it out of the park with his bedding and meticulous attention to detail. Thank you very much Mr. Owens at ROTex Stocks / Precision Woodcrafting.

While the build is not 100% / ready to shoot as I am waiting on my rings and glass to arrive in the coming weeks. Couple pics are attached.

Couple of things.
1. I am going to follow up with Mr. Ezell in regards to the subject matter in posts 199, 200 and 202 and get the tuner squared away now that barrled action is in-hand and measurements can be obtained.

2. While the action and Flavio FCG so far feel amazing I am disappointed with the cosmetics / appearance of the V22s action its self. I chose stainless finish on the action and barrel, no coating. I assumed the action would have been polished but to my amazement its not. Perhaps its me but its not quite what I expected as far as the finish goes. While the pics are not 100% perfect you can see the action needs some more TLC. I plan on polishing the action a bit. So I am asking for some advice. Compound, buffing and a little polish good to do the job? I am only concerned with the exterior of the action / body and bolt handle and knob.

The finish looks like it was tumbled. It might not be a very desired look but is a great way to deburr and finish the action inside and out without much hand work.
I look forward to see how it shoots for you.

I would venture to say you are correct regarding the tumbling.

I don't recall whether I read it here or on another forum, but one of the foremost tuners of the V-22S action recommended shooting with either the 16lb or 17lb striker spring in the bolt. I tried some of the lighter springs in my V-22S, but had too many FTFs with them, and went back to the heavier springs.

I've left the black nitride finish on all of my V-22 repeaters, with the exception of one that I bought from VGW as a bbl'd action, which they CeraKoted in sniper gray. I haven't even considered doing anything with the V-22S's action finish - the finish on mine doesn't bother me at all.
