Varmint Rifle Showcase

I got to try some of barts bullets, I really like the 70-80 grain range for coyotes. Nosler 70bt is probably my favorite

You can’t go wrong with any of Barts bullets. My rifle shoots his 68 Gr Originals really good too.

If you haven’t already, try some Sierra 70 Gr Blitzkings. They are one of my favorite bullets.

I haven’t shot the 70 blitz king but I live the 70 nos bt, they are awesome on coyotes

Howdy !

If you haven’t already, you can read about my “ .22-35 “ wildcat in a post
I made 11 Sep 2024. I added a second post to the topic on 31 Dec 2024.
Just do a search for .22-35, and scroll down to find the posting dates seen above.

The articles include pics, with the second article containing pics that allow visual comparison of .22-250 to my .22-35.

I developed the wildcat for my anti-groundhog use.

As I explained in the 11 Sep post, I designed .22-35 using dimensions scaled from small calibre canon rounds.

With regards,
357Mag

“ To know where you’re going…. you gotta know where you’ve been “.

Fred Sinclair holding a .22BR assembled on an M-77 w/ single shot ramp.
Canjar single-set trigger. Hart barrel re-purposed from a .22BR bench gun
I never got around to shooting in competition. McMillan M-40 pattern stock.
Circa 1979-1980…on a guess, as photo appears to show Fred in his garage shop
in New Haven, IN.

Middle pic is my .22-35 wildcat rifle, after Fred put it on a wt redux plan; shown with
an East Allen County, IN over-achiever.
Wichita WBR1375 single shot action ( s/n 15 ).
Hart 24” SS 1-14 turned-down & tapered.
Ken Burns converted M-700 2 oz trigger.
McMillan M-40 pattern stock.
Leupold 6.5 X 20 w/ CPC crosshair

3rd pic shows my best friend “ Speedo “ w/ his Savage 112V .220 Swift.
Factory stock all the way. I think that Leupold was a 12X. Hornady 55SX, WW760, and FED Large Magnum Rifle Match got the job done. Barn in background was blown down by a funnel cloud, a few years later.

357M, I recognized Fred Sinclair right away when your post came up. I sure miss the old days when they were a separate business and put out their most excellent yearly catalog with tech tips on almost every page. Seeing those old catalogs in my gun library sure brings back fond memories. One more very cool thing that we don't have any more.

Enjoy seeing vintage varmint shooting pics. Here's one from 1979 or 1980 here with some rockchucks and my Sako Vixen L-461/Leupold M8 12X in 223 shooting the old Nosler 50gr Zipedo bullet. That was about 15 years prior to the advent of the Ballistic Tip.....still killed the chucks quite well.

The chuck I'm holding weighed 16.5 lbs. I still have that sweet little Sako. :)

I'm working up a load in my 6ppc with the Sierra 60s. I'm very happy so far!

20P has been a favorite the last couple of years., 39 Sierra’s @ 175 yards. View attachment 1665457

I had to laugh when I saw your picture with that big net to catch your brass. Hey, I get it, you don't want to lose any brass that you spent so much time making. You can't get it off the shelf anywhere.
Well, I found a solution. Google "Brass Goat". It slides right on the side of your rifle and you won't lose a piece of brass ever again.

Jwv2001 thank you for the information, the net works quite well glad you got a laugh:)

What weight buffer are you using on your rifle? It appears your cases are ejecting 90 degrees from your rifle.
I believe standard weight and Geissele spring, I’ve tried lighter I went back to the standard. (I will check later this morning)
