Truck Guns!

Some friends have 340 acres in LaBelle, Florida and I was hired to help build a stilt house that they could retire to. One of the owners has one of the little Asian P/U trucks that he painted camo and drives on the property. The other owners SIL and I schemed on making a video with my Vietnam veteran buddies M2 replica mounted in the back, the two of us in rag head attire spouting death to capitalist pigs. But as is always is the case going hog hunting won out in the end.

Probably about the same as mine, it’s called a Japanese mini truck but I bought it in KY lol pretty handy little truck

Well, I just hope that someday I can ride around with a gun in the truck that isn't for protection. Have only had to pull it out twice in 17 years and once was preemptive but nothing came of that situation, so thats good I guess, lol!

Reminds me, I need to go put another couple of boxes worth of ammo through it, just to get reacquainted. 5 rounds on a 2" circle at 7 yards, double action is my personal standard. First round is #8 snake shot followed by 5, 110gr silvertips.

WARNING
INSURED BY SMITH & WESSON

Not sure I would be traveling with a muzzle pointing up in my face...
The rifle is carried in that position at all times. Due to the recognized risk, the bolt is always either closed with a fired round in the chamber (as it was when the picture was taken) or with the bolt open. I never close the bolt on a live round with the muzzle inside the vehicle. 100% if the time, never deviate. But I do appreciate your recognition of the potential risk.

Looks like a Daihatsu,
You can get a rack for that thing to let you carry long stuff or perhaps build a shooting platform...

Yea mine is a daihatsu, I’ve seen some with racks, canopies, heck even carring a hay roll. They don’t have the nicer things like some of the side by sides but you can find them pretty cheap, 4x4, heat and a/c, dump bed, full steel bed that sides come off for a flatbed

I haven’t had a truck gun in years since the advent of Diesel pickups but if pickup guns count I’ve packed this one since early 2000’s , there’s not a spot on it or the scope that’s not scratched up but it’s the most accurate factory rifle I own and will hold its own against some of my customs. It started out a plain Jane Tikka 7mm-08 with a cheap Nikon scope so if it got stolen I didn’t lose much but it shot so well I bought a stock then a Nightforce. I go nowhere without it and when the coyotes get on my feedlot in the winter my Tikka is there worse nightmare

The trouble with truck guns these days is that trucks aren't very gun friendly any more. Hardly anyone has a window rack these days, and that's just the start of it. Most truck cabs are built more like the cockpit of a plane than a utility pickup, and the spots where rifles used to lean or lay, hardly exist. Seat-belts hardly used to be "a thing", especially out hunting, and the old bench seat that used to accommodate three or even four people are a thing of the past.

Now it might be argued that two or three bubbas bouncing around in a truck cab with rifles, pistols, maps, beers, smokes, ammo, cassette tapes, gloves and hats, dirty wet socks, a small dog, and a hand-held spotlight -- doesn't present a very good picture of modern sportsmen. And it doesn't. But damn, I kinda miss those days. ;) jd

Finally someone said "pickup"! When you park a "truck" it makes a PPSSSHH sound.
I will just show my suppressor wear from being on the pickup floorboard.

I keep an AR pistol under my pickup seat, but have kept anything from AR's in 6.8, .223, Tac 6 to a Savage 99 in .243 in my pickup any time.

Thinking that same thing. Truck/pickup. Is it a regional thing or an urban/rural thing or young/old thing? I’m in the “trucks require a cdl” camp personally.
