USPS Delivery Issues and Delays

Waiting here in Florida for something from a member here.
He mailed (USPS, w/tracking) on Jan 28th from Wisconsin - it took a vacation in San Jose, CA. for a number of days - then on to Atlanta, where it has been for the past 4 days.

I have $3,000 in parts that have been at the OKC distribution center since last Tuesday without an update.

This is AWFUL.

I hope they’re not lost. They will absolutely never pay the claim.

It is my understanding that the postal service tried to streamline its service and it uses regional service centers to receive mail and then send it out to the local receiving office. My personal experience is that mail from some areas comes to me slowly and from other areas - it's pretty fast. For instance, I get quick service to/from the NY, NJ, Penn area, but slow service from VA, TX. I consider this whenever I place an order and I don't order from areas I know are slow. I guess due to the use of air freight, CA isn't bad for me either. Then there's the hybrid shipping where it moves by FedEx (not sure who others are) and the USPS delivers it to the house. I know, there's no rhyme or reason to it.

I am trying to get a package back that is in a constant circle for
Over a month. I was told Tulsa is were packages go to die.

I've recently had issues with usps. Shipped a barrel to my smith on 1/10, went into limbo on the 23rd, never moved. I filled out the missing mail form, still nothing. Ended up shipping another barrel. Even though I didn't purchase extra insurance, I submitted a claim for my $100 plus shipping costs. All of a sudden, my package moves! They DEFINITELY don't want to pay a claim! Also, take pictures (required in the claim form) have a copy of the receipt (also required in the claim).

USPS is very inconsistent. I choose UPS or FedEx for a higher cost but much better service. Watching USPS tracking is like watching the Family Circus cartoons following Billy's footsteps.

Our small PO is down to one employee again, apparently Ms Dreadlocks ( the most recent hew-hire) couldn't handle the pressure of standing at a desk 40 hours a week, so its down to the same older gal, working all by herself. Yesterday I had to wait in line for 40 minutes just to get some medium and large flat rate boxes because the homeless population kept taking them out of the lobby to use to build shelters. Now I am fearful my stuff wont make it to its destination

If unions were created to help the workers with management etc. Why are there unions in the Federal Gov.?......This IS a rhetorical question.......

The USPS is definitely a " Crap Shoot". Make sure you pack things prepared to take a beating.....

Regards
Rick

mailed a flat rate box jan 27 from denver to indy. been in transit from indy to next place for 11 days. did a search, and came back its in-route and resolved.
filed a lost package today, and a insurance claim for the $100 insurance.
did you know that you cant get your money back for shipping if they dont deliver it?? the lady said there is no guarantee of delivery. after i was on hold for 45 minutes, but she was nice. and to make a claim on the insurance, you have to show receipt of shipping, and a receipt of value of what's in the box. then cross your fingers!!!!!!!

Then after all the hoops, they will want to prorate the item.

They wanted to prorate bullets they lost. I told them the only time bullets loose value is when they leave the noisy end of the barrel.

I don’t know. I have had 2 or 3 lost envelopes in the last couple months going to sellers on here. They need to do something
Last December, I received 4 bills in my PO Box. The stamped date on the outside was Dec 18, 2024. When I opened the letters something looked odd. Closer inspection said that the bills were from late June and July of 2024. It only took them 5-6 months to go 25 miles.

I sent a seller on this forum payment for something recently...Sent early January. He still has not received the first letter but did get my second.
