There Goes Our No Tax on Suppressors

I'm not sure how their prices compare to other manufacturers but Silencer Central is offering free tax stamps. They also help with the paperwork. They had been accused of lobbying against the removal of the fee/registration. I have no way to prove or disprove that accusation. They offered the same deal of free tax stamp plus $100 off on their Bannish 30 model a couple of months ago.

They lobbied against removal of the $200 tax as it would essentially put them out of business. Their business motto was to jump through the hoops on your behalf. Purely speculation on my part. The paper work, while annoying, is relatively easy to do. In today's digital world it is now much easier than just a few years ago. The $200 tax going away is a great thing for suppressed gun lovers. I need a few more.

I would need some evidence of "lobbying". And lobbying to whom exactly?

With all due respect to yourself, I followed all of the Silencer Central blowback closely. Like yourself, I was upset that they would lobby against the removal of suppressor tax and registration. At the end of the day, I refuse to trash them when I can't personally verify what was being said on the internet.

When you complain about anyone elected to the Fed Govt and you have voted for any of those other than their freshman year........you are the problem. Insanity.....Keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. Oh, applies to state elected officials also. Yes they are ALL cowards.
Don't forget City idiots also.

See above.

My first Banish purchased through Silencer Central at Indianapolis NRA Exhibits took just over 1 hour to complete the process, due in part to the 6-8 people in each line of the 10 stations for digital fingerprint/photo and password/ID generation.
There were 4 Vendors in this cluster of Suppressor booths, and business was brisk.
The wait time to receive that suppressor was just over 8 months; the ATF process was primary culprit, as well as the production backlog at SC.
Purchased another Banish at Dallas NRA Exhibits the following year, and processing time was 40 +/- minutes. Wait time on it was 4 months.
The NRA Exhibits in Atlanta this past Spring saw equally brisk traffic in most of the booths for all Suppressor mfg’s. I again sought them out with another Banish on my list. I was second in line at one of the 5 stations, and 15 minutes later the transaction was done.
The astonishing part of this process was the speed/flow of approval/delivery of the product at just under 3 weeks.

I predict it won’t make much difference in savings. For me, retired and on fixed income, suppressors are already too high in price. Plus, the US should refund what they already taxed me. Then I could buy the .222 I always wanted.

Bottom line for me - they should have been removed from the NFA.

With the 0$ tax, they'll be no money for administration fees, so they'll have 1 employee handling the approvals. Back to 2 year wait times.

The tax went into the General Fund. The ATF didn't keep that money and the number of agents wasn't dependent on it.

It is more likely that the recommendations from DOGE will gut the ATF and that will slow stuff down again.

I was just referring to Silencer Central supposedly opposition to the bill that just passed for their benefit. Maybe now they’re playing the good guy and trying to cover their tracks. I don’t know for sure, just an observation.
In today’s world of “bots”, “AI”, business “fanboys”, and market competition, I suppose anything is possible, Sir. I don’t know the source/origin of the alleged accusations against Silencer Central, but there is little logic, and is profoundly counterintuitive to work against one’s self as an entity in a rapidly expanding industry.
I understand the skepticism, but just like the “news” on most stations and agendas being pushed since 2020, we may never know.

I, too, am on SS. I was a bit miffed at the failure to eliminate the tax on that income. I paid that SS tax throughout 39 years of employment, and now pay a tax on what it yields, and yet more tax when I spend it?!?
Insanity.
