Some 6mm wildcat ideas

I'm shooting a 25 WSSM. These powders are way too slow for the case capacity.
You're getting into some fairly high compressed loads with RL19 & 4831.

RL17, H414 speed is where you're looking for the WSSM case.
I disagree, BTDT, with both RE-17 and H414 and blew primers. That was with a 25 WSSM. The purpose of slow powders is to create a low pressure load and get it to burn longer down the barrel. I do that now with my 6mm Dasher.

Do a search for the 6mm Long Dasher. It’s basically a 6x47 Lapua Ackley. I always thought it would be a really nice case.
for hunting 22 CM & 6 x 284 243 6 mm rem AL 204 5.56 and they all work for hunting and depending on what your hunting & how far . i could name 40 different calibers but theses are just a few . lots can do the job .

And another one new in the limelight.....6mm Max. It's based off
the 350 Legend case !!

I'm currently working with 22 Nosler brass. it could lend itself well,
to neck up, or just use the Hager......

Beau,

6mm XC was designed for silhouette by David Tubb. It has XC in the name for Across the Course, but he used to be an avid silhouette shooter, and wanted a cartridge that did both well. Both disciplines are offhand bullseye shooting, essentially.

Point being, David Tubb is a great designer, and this sounds like exactly what you want. Alpha appears to have 6XC brass "coming soon" at Midway, and you can get factory loading dies, which is nice.

Regarding what Allen said, I wonder if anyone in HP Silhouette is using slow/fast loads for the near/far animals? Seems like an easy way to manage recoil without having to use different components.

I'm sure whatever you pick will work great. Have fun!

Everyone I know shoots at least two loads: one for Rams and one for everything else. There is a small amount of us that use a third load for Chickens. I don't know of anyone that uses four different loads for the four distances, but I guess it's possible.

For the two different loads they/we all use a heavier bullet for the Rams and a lighter bullet for everything else. (In my case a 115gr. for Rams and 95gr. for Turkeys/Pigs.) Some may or may not be using two different powders for the two different loads. My guess is it's probably a mix as I know folks that use both methods.

I shot another HP match this past weekend in Tulsa, and I'm really liking having the softer load for Chickens (Berger 87-VLD with N135).

I’m looking for some wildcat ideas I shoot metallic silhouette and I’m looking to design potentially the best silhouette cartridge possible. I’m looking to come up with a cartridge that is light recoiling while being balistically efficient at the ram bank (550 meters) we need about 1,100ft lbs of energy at the ram bank to reliably nock them down the 6br and 6dasher are pretty popular but I’m looking to make something g better than them both.
6mmRem with bullets on the heavy side. Maybe an 8 twist. About 50-60 years old.

Try a 6mm-250, 22-250 necked up to .243. The 6xc, 6mm cm, and 6x47L are not much more than improved versions of the 22-250. You can get Lapua brass also,'
