The rebated rim was a good move by Nosler.

It has the potential to see widespread use in both the AR15 and bolt guns. Not a big deal to swap out the bolt on an AR.
It's a bit more difficult to do so in most bolt actions, though. Not including Savage, of course.

,
.245 Neck length--.0155 Neck thickness-- *30 Shoulder angle. This thing is going to get "Wild-Catted" a LOT!! dedogs

neck that to 6mm for my CZ 527 would be killer,,probably need the 7.62x39 mags,,
The 7.62x39 has a lot more "slope" to the case which is why the mags have more curvature and the base is .440, I don't believe they'll work

My 16" beater AR comes within 130 fps of the 20" AR they used, with American Eagle 5.56 as far as factory stuff goes. But the 77 grain velocity looks like it will really pay off. I'll take one please.

Wow just released and Midway has in stock brass, dies and uppers. I remember when Ruger had the 77/22 Hornet on the cover of a shooting magazine i went to my LGS and ordered one... two years later they called to tell me my gun was in! Still have it.

Out of curiosity, and I know this cartridge will be a very cool AR setup.

But what, in terms of building a bolt action rifle, would this gain (if anything) in velocity or case capacity over a 22-204? And even that case would be really easy to adapt to the AR setup.

Having a hard time digging up the Winchester Olin 224 E5 ( Experimental) Print which was designed back in the early 1960's. That is what this NEW case is. Its almost a direct copy of the 1960's Case that was being experimented with for the then new M16. Rebated and rim and all.

Nothing is Really new. LOL

You are correct Russel. I didn't find the print, but here's an interesting link that shows the Win. 224 E5 about halfway down the page:
