Shipping revisited

I was going to order some Lapua brass from brunos since they had the best price. Burnos shipping was a little steep at about $22 shipped from AZ to CA.
Instead i ordered from powder valley(4th of july sale), shipping from KS to CA was $12.50. Whats up with the shipping? brunos needs to get their shipping in line. Shipped it 3X farther for 1/2 the cost :o.

Bruno has some of the best prices around on many items, like the Hawkeye borescopes, and rifle scopes, but you are correct. His shipping charges are amoung the highest.

Not to single out any particular sales out fit.

But sometimes prices ARE cheaper looking on the item list, then the difference is made up with shipping and handling charges.
It's basic business, it pays to be aware of the Total Cost before commiting too or making any purchase.

Natchezss fall catalog just came with a stick saying Free shipping, fyi. Have to use key code on back of catalog.

Graf's & Sons charge a flat $4.95 for shipping, and free HAZMAT if you buy enough (I think 20 lbs.) powder.

I gave up on the above mentioned place in AZ after my powder and primer order came shipped in two boxes for not only double the shipping & handling but double the HAZMAT! Never again!

I too am not happy with Bruno's shipping charges. Lately, I have been buying components from Third Gen Shooters Supply. $4.95 flat rate.

We keep paying it and they keep right on charging it!! Maybe if enough customers start shopping at these "flat rate" places it will start to change. But, you got to keep checking...Flat rate doesn't always mean lower price, as we all know.

How about this I was trying to send my bolt back to Bat Machine. I first went to UPS and asked how quick can I get it there? Over night will be $135.00 Oh my God I didn't want to ship the hole gun, so I said whats the cheapest? $25.00 Thanks I'll try the Post Office $12.40 it will be there in 4 days. Nothing is cheep.

That's the reason that anything I sell, the posted price
is the DELIVERED PRICE. That way the customer knows
the exact amount up front. The Postal service has no kick backs.

Vendor who use UPS and inflate your shipping costs, are
making a % of that cost from the carrier.

I want to be your JEWELL TRIGGER dealer. LDS

Hello everyone.
I know the above post is from 2011 but currently we have a $7.95 Handling and Insurance for Internet orders and a $9.95 Handling and Insurance for Phone orders. We do not have free HAZMAT. We have in the past ran specials if you purchase a set amount of powder, then HAZMAT is either reduced or Free.
Right now we are currently running a Free H&I with minimum purchase of $75 now through 4-13-16. All items must be instock at time of purchase to qualify.

So I guess you pay 7.95 for 100 cases and if you order 100 bullets also you pay another 7.95 ??

Basically I wanted to order 100 cases and 100 bullets is the shipping going to be $15.90
Or do I get free shipping because I spent more than $75.00 ?

I like the sites that show the shipping up front before you go thru the checkout riggamaroll.

It is $7.95 per order. 100 cases and 100 bullets on the same order = $7.95 for the shipping unless there is some special deal going on.

You better order it to your FL address as they don't ship to New York State any more!!

Ok, look at this way. They cut costs on the item markup, and then hit you for the shipping and handling which is where the profit margin creeps back up. I'll take 10.00 of the unit price, and add 9.00 o the shipping.

I just received a notice that shipping rates are going up on April 10th. If it can fit into a USPS flat rate box, that is your cheapest way to ship small items.

My system checks USP, FedEx, and the USPS. USPS is usually a few dollars cheaper.

As per the above comment, I try to post everything I can which "includes" shipping charges. It's the clearest way to ship your items.

I have also found that certain areas you ship to have drastic differences between carriers. Usually UPS, and the USPS is the cheapest and it's the two services offered.

Some items require special packaging, plus insurance is also included in the shipping price.

April 10th is going to be about the 3rd increase I have seen within the last year.

We will see in a few days.

Vendor who use UPS and inflate your shipping costs, are
making a % of that cost from the carrier.

This is the first time I have heard the above. Usually I get a bill for "additional" charges from UPS. Even with a stated price from them, they figure out a way to add "surcharges" to your monthly bill.

Dennis

PS: If there is a difference in the shipping price charged to you, vs. what I actually paid, I will refund the difference. I do ship in crush proof boxes vs. padded envelopes. It's not worth it for you or I to have damaged parts. They always seem to get under a piano or something similar.

I don't like paying shipping charges any more then the next guy, but it is a free country. Businesses can charge $1000 for shipping if they want. We are free to buy it somewhere else if we do not like the price.
I do hate having to go through the checkout process just to find out how much shipping will cost.

Also, have you ever kept track of how long it takes to fill an order, package it with the correct address and ship it out? I have a small business (not gun related) and to be honest I think most of the smaller shops we order from are probably losing money on shipping when you factor in the labor costs.

If they do it correct it should all be figured in as "overhead", the only Shipping you should pay is what USPS,UPS, FedEx, etc charge for the delivery, not handling charges....

A lot of times the above statement is true. Your shipping department can make you or break you. Shipping materials are high especially on items like stocks, complete rifles, Action tools, a case of brass, etc., I sometimes make my own boxes to insure a tight fit so the product will end up in the consumers hands undamaged.

If the receiver lives in the mountains or a remote area, get ready for the charges. The USPS is the only one who doesn't have "surcharges" added on for these situations. That's why I use them more than the others.
