NECO Shipping

Just ordered $34.00 worth of stuff from NECO. Shipping and handling was $24.00. This stuff will easily fit in a small flat rate box. WHEW this is worse than Brunos!!!!!!! I not griping__I could have canceled the order. I'm just saying Ill try not to buy anything from NECO again. Mabie its the high cost of doing business and living in CA. Oh by the way I'm in midwest USA not in Australia.

And thinking about it for the two main things I wanted to buy_one a Quickload upgrade, I would have rather payed double than pay that much S&H. Just human nature I guess.

Was it UPS? If so maybe you should complain to UPS. BTW, many shippers shy away from shipping methods that do not offer tracking.
( I ship goods via UPS. Their rates suck!)

I feel the same about some vendors...NECO being one of them. But, I like their product and will order an upgrade, when applicable, and suck up the shipping. On an interesting shipping note, I ordered 1000 primers online on Tuesday evening, they will arrive this Friday for a shipping cost of $12.55 TOTAL! I am still looking at the invoice for that Hazmat fee....none to be found!

We all have opinions but, I feel that many times we are overcharged on shipping costs. I know there are there are hidden costs, (employees, time, and materials). Most, if not all, retailers buy the shipping containers in bulk and save money. The Postal Service used to ship to you, free of charge, as many Priority mail boxes that you wanted. So, they are getting breaks but, they don't filter down to the customer. I know...They have to make money!

Rardoin interesting about no hazmat. Mabie you've ordered a lot from them and they decided to help you out a little? This order from neco was USPS. I took the cheapest option. I know most of the fee is for handling on the vendors end. I want and hope they all stay in business. when it's a couple screws they have to send in a flat rate box I understand the cost. When the postage is 6.00 and they charge me 24.00 S&H for a couple things they can stick in an envelope I feel like I got gouged and I don't want to buy from them again. I don't think this is the feeling they want me to have. Thanks Guys

They get a rebate on the shipping. I ordered some stuff, and asked them to just stick it in a small flat rate box. "Can't do that." I need to talk to your supervisor. "Can't do that." I need to talk to the owner/manager. After leaving me on hold for a couple minutes (to make sure I understand I mean diddly to them), I get the owner. "Can't do that, we use ____ exclusively. I said, this is going to cost me three times as much as your' using the PO box, and more than the parts. "We use _____ exclusively." I ended the discussion by letting him know that I can buy locally, and not have to pay as much. Which I did. It's the equivalent of car dealers and their "doc fee". I never understood why they want to charge me $399+ to do the paperwork buying a new vehicle. I cancelled my purchase on my new P/U over that and went to a dealer about fifteen minutes away. Told them I get $100 every time I sign my name. They waived the fee. I drove the P/U over to the first dealership to show them. It was such a great feeling...

Yeah Idaho. That same kind of thing has happened to me. I like your idea of the 100 signature. More people outta stand up to this crap and not let em get away with it.

It should be illegal to charge more than actual cost of shipping & profit from it.

Let me be the devil's advocate here. All of this on shipping has been hashed out on this forum before. When I ship I furnish a new box, rest tops are wrapped in bubble wrap and new filler is used in the box. I use new tape also. In my case it is 20miles to the post office. I ship next shipping day after an order. If I have only one box, I make the trip anyway. The amount that I charge is about $3-$5 more than postage. That helps pay for the shipping material and diesel. Remember that larger companies have to pay shipping clerks and their benefits. These figures are for one of my rest tops and my shipping is posted on my website. I charge $5 shipping on my tension screws. I furnish a plastic baggy to hold them and then a padded shipping envelope. I think my cost on postage is about $2.70 + the envelope and baggy. I normally take them to the post office also as myself and customer wants a tracking number.
I know that some may gouge, but there is a lot more to it than stamps.

Butch,

Why not just put in your mailbox and let the letter carrier pick them up. Just a thought.:D

Hi Butch and Boltfluter. I do think of all that goes into shipping. I've sold things and shipped in the past. So all I am asking for is reasonable. It sounds like your shipping is very reasonable Butch. I bet you wouldn't charge $24.00 S&H for a few items in a manilla envelope. Having said this NECO has contacted me and told me my shipping will be much less on this order. When I find out what it is I will start a thread and thank them for taking care of me. I hope the main thing that's comes out of a thread Like this one is that vendors will keep their S&H decent. Thanks Guys

USPS still gives you free boxes to ship Priority as well as envelopes. The shipping fee is very reasonable and includes free insurance covering $50 and more if you pay more. And, the packages go with a tracking number. Most folks don't balk at the shipper adding a couple dollars for shipping costs over the postage. It amazes me that so many folks shipping a lot of stuff will not even consider USPS Priority instead have a contract with UPS or Fed-Ex and pay for the boxes in addition.

Norm,
USPS boxes or envelopes do not match my product. Too large or too small. They do not offer bubble wrap envelopes. Don't think I wouldn't do it if I could. Just about everything is tracked now.
