FED -EX SHIPPING ---BROWNELLS

I've had similar experiences with their shipping after joining the Edge program (I think that is what it is called). The new shipping system almost doubles the delivery time. I called them and spoke to a customer service supervisor type and complained at length. She was very understanding and admitted that they were working with the carriers to speed things up.

I encourage everyone to call and complain! The Edge program with free shipping can turn my attention to them first instead of last, if they can deliver in a timely manner.

I just recently discontinued any deliveries by FedX.
When I place an order, if it cant be delivered by
any other means, I go to another vendor. I do gun
transfers for locals. The last episode, FedX kept
a customers rifle on their truck for 5days. My wife
was taking Radiation(we were at the hospital)
every day when the truck arrived, and no one
was available to receive the package. I left instructions
on their delivery notice, as to a SECURE LOCATION,
and please sign for me, but they refused to deliver.
When I was finally available,a driver
that I had never seen before made the delivery. I
told him I would never use FedX again, he said he didnt make the rules, and he didnt care what I did. A few days later,
I come home to find a package on my front porch,
worth over 1K, delivered by non other than FEDX.
I have an understanding w/both UPS/USPS as to
a SECURE LOCATION in my absence, and to sign for me.
It has worked for many yrs. My opinion, if you cant work
with me, you sure cant work for me. Goodby FEDX. LDS

I made a big Brownell's order that was lost for five days. I called to add something to the initial order that was still missing via the "UPS to USPS" and it arrived the very next day on a UPS truck three days before the original order arrived via USPS. I never could understand that one.

Like my keys .
But they didn't arrive on the truck . My chair had them Larry

All non-overnight packages go through distribution centers. Think of it like a airline hub. They just don't have enough direct route to accommodate everyone. You package is not special :) It doesn't get it own truck/plane. Trust me that all the delivery companies UPS/FedEx/DHL/etc spend millions in time and effort every year to save money and make delivery more efficient, they even calculate down to the drivers neighborhood routes and how long the truck sits idling while the package is being signed for (fuel consumption).

For what it is worth; I have had the best luck with FedEx. UPS, USPS and other has drop the ball big-time with me. FedEx seems to do pretty good. If it's small, USPS Flat-Rate. If larger FedEx. Just my experience though, I think a lot depends on where you're located and you local driver.

I'll bet anything, that Fed-X passed off your shipment the great USPS and now is being delivered to by the US mail. I know this first hand as it has happened to me twice.

Since he has tracking data, and the USPS can't track the sun in the sky on a cloudless day, I'd say no.

It's called a screw-up. It happens. It's Fed-Ex's mistake, not Brownells.

I am extremely reluctant to even place an order with Brownells these days. Their prices were never great to begin with; now their shipping rates are probably the highest in the industry. I also have a MAIL address (PO Box), and a SHIPPING address (street address). The USPS does NOT deliver to the house here. That's a problem with places like Brownells and Amazon that insist on shipping UPS (or whoever) to the town, and then hand it off to USPS to deliver. It is inevitably returned to the sender. If they actually bothered to TELL YOU about this, it would be easy to avoid any problems. But of course, they don't.

I normally order from Midway of Graf's these days, simply to avoid usurious shipping charges and returned packages.

This is how my package arrived from Brownells today. Cleaning rod protruding out from a completely open ended tube. The other end had a hole in the packing tape. Somehow, all but 1 item that was in that tube made it to me. 1112161443a.jpg 1112161443.jpg

Just had to request another lost package investigation with UPS.. this is the second time now a shipment from PVI i have had to request this.. It was supposed to have been here this past Friday..

I got a call from my company's buyer who said I had a Fed Ex package delivered. I said no I didn't. On his way to lunch he dropped it off and I nearly fell over. Four years before we broke a core pin in a plastic injection mold used to mold a part for a military item. The entire contract was delayed for this item. I found a gear making shop that could make the special pin and sent them a set of blanks.
The new pins never arrived and my job was immediately on the line. I made more pin blanks and shipped them to Chicago. This time they got back to me and were installed.
Four years later Fed Ex found the original package wedged into the gap between the wheel well in the back of the truck and the side of the box. I have never done business with them again.
This is a "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" for sure. I think there are horror stories for just about any shipping company, DHL comes to mind.

Pretty much a fact of life in this day and age.

Time was you bought what a local dealer - or a friend who 'got around' - happened to have on the shelf; you paid what they were asking for it.

Or sent a check off in the mail with a letter or form, telling them what you wanted.

Or found what you'd been looking for at a 'gun show' after how many times you'd walked the floors, finding nothing for a price you'd settle for....

We all have our horror stories (mine's a $1,300 action + $300 barrel + $300 "marriage" of same delivered to my next-door neighbor by a UPS 'sub' on a day I was waiting for it at home??!!) but overall things are maybe a little more complicated than they used to be?

It could be worse....

I ordered two screwdriver bits from Brownells. The bits cost $5.98. The "economy shipping" cost $7.95.
The bits arrived in a lightly padded envelope.

That Fed EX-USPS combination is a real loser. Worst Ive ever encountered. Have pkg shipped from MN 9 days ago and still floating out there in zombie land somewhere. USPS Priority Mail I have found to be reliable.

In my younger years working in an office I received an envelope in a plastic bag from the USPS. Inside the envelope was a check written 7 years earlier from a restaurant that had gone out of business. The whole thing had been in oil for some time, the paper was somewhat brittle.

On the outside of the envelope was stamped in red ink " Found in Empty Equipment".

Brownells sent me 4 free new 20 round magazines for a FN 17 .308 rifle. LOL, it was intended for someone else. Told them to get UPS to come and pick them up, was not going to waste my time taking the package to a post office.

I placed an order (11-6-16) with Brownells-Sinclair in Grinnell, Iowa. I live only 115 miles from Grinnell. The package was shipped (11-9-16). Here is the routing according to FED-EX tracking. Grinnell,Ia to Ottumwa, Ia, from Ottumwa, Ia to Chicago, IL, from Chicago, Il to Lenexa,Ks, from Lenexa, Ks to Olathe, Ks and now I HOPE back to Iowa for a delivery date of (11-16-16). This does not make any sense and is the reason shipping is so HIGH. This package will have traveled approx. 1350 miles before it gets to me. Remember I only live 115 from the starting point. THANKS OBAMA, I am sure Trump will fix this!

UPDATE - Package was delivered on Wednesday (11-16-16) after 1300 miles of travel , remember I only live 115 miles from Grinnell, IOWA. It only took 10 days from the date I ordered to the day I received the order.

I had an order from them shipped and delivered to my door on a FEDEX truck. They even had the gall to slap a Priority Mail sticker on it and charge me $27.95 for it. Two catalogs.

It's easy, I don't buy from Brownells and I buy maybe once a year from Sinclair/Brownells. The prices aren't that great, the shipping stinks, and there are usually plenty of other people out there that are not big corporate and they ship fast. I don't even go to their website.

I remember a few years ago a shipping service offered a service that was the ultimate slow but inexpensive shipping method. They would send it on trucks that had room and it might not go the shortest route and if a truck was full, it would sit for a night. In return a business got slightly lower rates. Pretty sure it was Fedex. Don't see it on their website now or remember what they called it. --Jerry

"LTL" ? Less than truck load....didn't know FedEx offered it if that was it.
