Sgt Maciel Hay

Interesting, the 29 days of training these days. It was two weeks in RVN, at least for the 23rd Infantry Division in 1969-71. I wonder if the M4 is a better weapon than the OM 70's we were issued...?

As a former Army Ranger, I applaud this young woman for her skill and tenacity in graduating from Sniper School.
You rock!! young lady.

I have no problem with it unless she was captured and our Commander in Chief traded 23 ISIS prisoners for her in an exchange because she was a woman. You know that’s possible

I am a combat veteran with experience leading men and women in various roles including policing and swat. I have seen grown men cower and weak men prevail in bravery. I've also seen women do things that are not natural to them. My inclination to believe that women are givers of life and shouldn't be made to be takers of life is not of ignorance. They deserve to be protected from death and destruction. What civilization can survive by sending our daughters forward as our sons stay behind in relative safety?
Exactly. It's amazing how some people think this is a good thing. They just have no idea how bad things can get in combat. I've been to some courses that drained the life out of you... whether 10 weeks or 3.5 weeks. We'll lose men just rehearsing for some missions and some missions literally turn into hell. But I guess Hell is a relative term. Some people will just never have a clue what hell is and the one's that do will never think a girl will belong there.

When the fire dept my brother worked for hired the first woman firefighter (not a medic, a member of the truck crew) I asked how he felt about her. The first thing he said is, many at the station are afraid that she can't carry them out of a burning building. He said "I would rather have her drag me out than 3 of the men who work here that are so afraid of a fire they wouldn't even try, they would run the other way." If she passed the armies requirements she is a sniper no matter what you and I think. There maybe be a few here that have also passed the course, that may have the right to question, the rest of us don't even have that right.

I'm one of those that said, It's a good thing. I've also served in the US Army
Infantry as a 11C10, in the early 70's. No women were around other then
the all volunteer nurses, and quite a few were officers that I knew.....Here
is a clip from the military news from 2015......

So, women arn't good enough??? Maybe if this country was run by a QUALIFIED Woman, we wouldn't be in such bad shape?
After all, Men have been running this country for as long as most Men can remember so maybe a little change might be a good thing. ;);):):)
I guess I agree with your observations, but not with the conclusion.

I am of the mind and the generation where regardless of the qualification of a woman, a MAN would NEVER let her be exposed to such, if it were within his ability. It was called chivalry.

I like chivalry right up until the point you use it to deny a woman her own free will to pursue her interests.

Best shooter on my college team was a woman. Frankly I think she just posessed more patience than us men.

Difference between an interest in being on a shooting team and being a sniper. I am not picking a fight here. But I would note that in every news article that appeals to the moral sensibilities and responsiblities of war conduct, it reads "Innocent women and children"...but never mentions innocent men. I point that out because across cultures, we recognize the special place women hold in the world.

Cat is sort of out of the bag with women in combat disciplines, is it not? It's not unique to sniper school at this point. Most of our current modern enemies don't seem to show an awful lot of leeway to female civilians in any case, particularly the Israel experience. I'm inclined to let them choose for themselves. Hate to say it but we currently live in a country where everyone is afraid to define what woman even is.

Yeah... and Jessica Lynch was a real trail blazer for women driving supply trucks. And she got a Bronze Star. They get lost, everyone else gets killed, they rape her in every part of her body which is as nicely as I can put it, fracture her spine... and for what?... they couldn't find any other boys out of high school to drive a damn truck. Nice little social experimenting though... it did great for our morale over there... were you over there looking for her? Do you have a clue as to how pissed off we were that this happened to her? But you guys back in the states at the time were fine. You got to read stories about her heroics and how she emptied magazines into the enemy till she ran out of ammo... manufactured stories by the same people who are pushing this unnecessary social experiment. And the great lady rangers that were not allowed to quit despite quitting many times and having the standards lowered so much for them and not the men. I just had a reunion in March with some guys and one was an RI down there during the first women in the class. We're not Israel and we're not some European country that is definitely going to be involved with another world war on their soil. We don't need women to fill combat roles. I know that hurts some people's feelings. We need women in the CIA and other areas... and not the ones who are proud of their anxiety disorders in the commercials recruiting women for the CIA since 2021. Women prison guards... another great idea. But some of you can have your fantasies exactly the way the agenda wants you to have them. You're not doing the men or women any favors by humoring this divisive social experiment.
