SEB Update

Sebastian this NEO is something that would have gotten you an A+ at RISD. Reminds me of really high end Italian espresso gear - superb in function, shiny and oh so beautiful to look at. I'm not a competitive shooter so mine won't ever get a true workout but I'll certainly gain a magnitude of pleasure just using it at the bench and the prairie dog fields. Might be a bit of dust blowing about there - hope it won't gum up the works much.

My NEO arrived today as well. It is really a beautiful piece. I'm going to have to sell something nice to pump the bank account back up a bit - worth it though.
I can't wait to try it out.

Nomo4me,
Let me know how it works for you.
Just tell me the bad thing, if there is.
Thanks,
seb.

Just a little note that the foreend stopper can now be tilted (up/down) a bit by a small jam screw on the base of the leverage.
A customer told me that the top of the stopper might be too tall for a low rider stock (touching the barrel) / when shooting down hill.
This feature would also help when you use factory rifle stock (which might need the stopper to be set higher).

A built-in precision bubble level is now included on the rest top assy.
However since the front bag is relatively thin, please be careful when you put your rifle on the top assy.

*Don't ask me to use a circular buble level on a front rest, where ever it is located. I would never do that because I think it's useless. Side to side axis that counts imo, not front to back axis. A circular bubble level is good for setting wind flags/poles, but not on a front rest. In fact, for instance when shooting a steep uphill, or in prone shooting, you can set the whole rest to have a slight or even steep angle by setting the front leg higher than the rear leg, as it will allow you to get more comfort joystick operation/position and to be "more square" between your rifle & front/rear rest.
Please note that you can actually tweak/twist the joystick (which is shaped "bend") when moving from a point of aim to another point of aim. It is not only by raising (vertically) the joystick/your hand. If you always hold the joystick when shooting (me too), be sure to put/rest your hand stable/steady on the benchtop. It is always better to rest your hand steady on the bench/ground.

The front bag set is designed half round shape and will minimize twist & friction between the stock and the bag - either for up & down, side to side, or diagonally.
This is also why I don't make pivotal base on the NEO.

The leveling screws are also more longer now to accept foot pads, plus approximately 1.5" adjustment.

Also that the end tip of the "long leg" (#4 in the exploded drawing) is now trimmed - to not interfere with the joystick when you set the rest with the long leg at rear, or when you have to set the top at very low position.
Included a short rear screw (#10) to replace the standard leveling screw.

The small PVC tube is made/included to help filling sand into the front bag set.

Caution:
Once the front bag set is filled, be sure to set the side plate assy (#39) close to your stock's width. (put your rifle on the top, slide in the side plate assy until touching/almost touching the sides of the forearm). Do not adjust the side tensioner too much - because it could cause permanent bend on the "L" plate up side down between the side bag & side plate. The "L" plate is made from s/s sheet, not a spring plate.
I add a small rubber "O" ring under the L plate, in hope to allow more side adjustment. However, think about 1/8" (or so) travel adjustment only, 1/5" maximum. Do not exceed this.

Do not try to change the factory setting (except for tension adjustment, which is very easy to adjust), if not really necessary, or unless you have good technical skill.
Every rest is (already) set to its peak performance.

Contact me if you have any questions about your rest.

Mine arrived, SEB your workmanship is truly amazing, until you have your hands on one these (NEO) you really can not appreciate the precision built into them.
Looking forward to breaking mine in very soon.
Outstanding work SEB

I haven't been to the range yet with mine, and casual group-shooter that I am my experience won't be much help to the more advanced guys here.
A minor complaint and a comment regarding mine:
- One of the holes drilled for the leveling screws is very slightly "off", none of the 3 screws will pass through it without a bit of extra torque required. Not a big deal but Sebastian seems pretty picky so I mention it here.
-As a casual shooter, I will use this rest for all sorts of stocks and thus need to adjust one of the side bag holders to suit (I don't care if my stock isn't perfecty centered against the stop). A fair amount of pressure on the allen wrench is required to lock these holders in place, and I worry a bit about galling or stripping the threads for the lock-down screw. I decided to move only the right one and leave the left in place for all widths. Accordingly, I applied anti-seize compound to the threads of this lockdown screw and found a stainless washer to put under the head to eliminate galling there and reduce torque required to tighten.

Having said that, this thing is just beautiful and fun to own just to marvel at all the machine workevident. It is rock solid and the joystick motion is super smooth. Think of a very fine gun in your safe that you enjoy owning just for the sake of it and you will understand the pride of ownership the SEB NEO inspires.

As such I consider it a bargain at the asking price.

Nomo4me,
Please accept my apology for the too tight thread hole! It must be my fault... I thanks you for the valuable input!

Seb, Have you corrected the deficency in the front stop yet? The height of the stop also needs to adjustable as I've found that when used with most of my low profile stock the top of stop is to high and contacts the barrel and I have to remove the stop. I own several rifles with low profile stocks and find not having a stop to be a real disadvantage. I await your comment regarding this problem. Other then then the front stop I couldn't be happier with my new NEO.

Regards
RJ Hamilton

RJ, thanks for your input & question.
The new fore end stopper can now be tilted down & up. (as explained in my previous post dec 22).

Since your stocks seem to be very low profile (maybe less than 3/8" from the bottom of the stock foreend and the bottom of the barrel?...or maybe you shoot downhill w/ extra tall rear bag) because when the front bag is filled in moderate hardness it's about 3/8" between the top of the bag and the top of the stopper, horizontally.
There are two easy ways to cure the problem: a). to offset the side plates assembly so that the stopper is at 8 or 4 o'clock position bellow the barrel (this can be done if your stocks are 3" wide or more). b) to cut the top of the stopper a little bit. (this can be done very easily if you have access to a lathe).
Or, I can send you a shorter stopper by mail.
Let me know and provide me with your shipping address.... sebastianlambang@yahoo.com

Seb,
Yor are correct in regards to several points regarding the rest front stop. First off on our range we are shooting down hill. I also will be using my rest in the prairie dog fields in Kansas being the extra vertical range adjustment that you designed into this rest makes the perfect shooting platform for us p-dog shooters. The areas where we shot prairie dogs have a lot of long deep wide dry washes which require us to be shooting downward a lot. Second my Protektor Doctor rear bag is taller then most. The model NEO that I have will not allow me to tilt the stop forward to lower the height. I do not have a lathe and prefer not to shorten the stop as I'll be using it with so many different size heights and widths rifle stocks. I'd like to take you up on your generous offer to mail me a shorter one. I'd be willing to pay you for it, pm sent.

Please mail to:

RJ, will mail one very soon.
Thanks for the address info.
Thanks you for willing to use your NEO for p-dog shooting, as this rest actually designed for BR competitions.
I have also tried a SEB rest for a pd shooting some years ago in Wyoming (very nice open terrain there), using a specialty pistol I nailed a pd at 1008 yds...but yep, I made a lot of "sighters" before hit it. Maybe I was just lucky. ;D It's a very interesting experience for me.
Although not really ideal (I might prefer using a bipod or a "pivotal table platform" myself), your NEO rest will be better/quicker than the original SEB rest for pd shooting...can guarantee that.

No need to pay for the stopper. Thanks for the offer, too.

Is anybody else still awaiting the arrival of their NEO rest? I sent an e-mail back in March 2010 requesting my name be put on the order list. I have waited patiently for a long time now and still no rest. I spoke with Ernie in December and he told me there was a mix up with my order and he would get one shipped to me the first of the year. Now, I cannot even get a response when I ask Ernie for a status of my delivery. I also sent a check for $920.00 back in December.
Again, is anybody else still waiting?? For 9 months?????

TheBlueEyedBear,

First I would like to apology for the inconvenience.
I'm trully sorry for the troubles!

Ernie & I commited to not accept payment before the goods have already prepared / about ready to ship.
Some rests shipped to Ernie last Dec 6, and they're expected to be arrived before mid December 2010. (I never expected a shipment to take over a month to get to his door, but now we realise that was due to bad weather/snow problem sometime ago and then held in the customs, which we have no control at all with it).

Re: You sent check to him last Dec 2010.... My best guess is, Ernie accepted your check (it must be after Dec 6, right?) only to speedy the process, so he could send your rest immediately after he got the shipment.

I just called Ernie and he informed that he has received those rests, today. So I am sure that your rest will be sent immediately/today!

Thanks you sir for your understanding!

seb.

I've been on the list for a while and have emailed Ernie a few times trying to see exactly where I'm at, but no response as of yet... Keeping my fingers crossed though.....

Folks all I can say is this rest is worth the wait! You've got to shoot off one to believe the quality, it's absolutely rock solid. I really like the three piece front bag. Preacher you're gonna love it.

RJ

I sure hope so. After waiting this long and spending this kind of money it should be great!!
I just got my new rest from Randolph Machine and it is AWESOME!! These folks were truly a joy to work with. I called a couple months ago and spoke with Beth to place my order. She advised me of the cost and the approximate delivery time (mid January). I sent in my payment sat back and just like promised, I have my rest. Imagine that, the middle of January! That's the way it's supposed to work!

I have also been waiting since april of 2010......I'm trying to be patient. I can see that the Rest is in high demand (here in the USA and in other countries). I've emailed Ernie a couple times, in August he told me he had received his first shipment and that I was #45 on the list. He also let me know it would be 4 months before my rest was ready. It's been right at 5 months now. From reading Sebs comments on this thread I assume only 40 have been sent as of right now with more due to come maybe the end of January. I keep my phone close hoping any day now I will get a phone call telling me to send the money no such luck as of yet.

David

I have been on the waiting list many months also. However when I email I always get a quick update. I figure it is worth the wait. If I do not like it I suspect I could sell it in a couple of days.

Chip

Gentlemen,

I thanks you for your patience & interest in my front rest.

---------

If you'd call Ernie, please try to call him at normal working hours...I mean between 8AM - 4PM, local time.
This is (the dealership) is not his prime job. He is a Preacher, and I admire him.
There were/are many people asking me a dealership, but I chose him to be the US dealer myself, because I know him personally & he is one of the nicest-honest men on the planet. It must be something wrong if he doesn't/didn't answer your phone call...maybe he's just busy, out of town, or so.

---------

E, could you chime in?

---------

Thanks,
seb.

Having to wait almost 5 weeks for the NEO's to make it here really caught me off guard.
I started having customers send funds when Sebastian, contacted me to let me know he was sending a shipment. It could take as few as 4-5 days with the maximum time being three weeks before this time.
This way I could ship the rests out as soon as possible.
What I intended/hoped to do was get the rests into the hands of shooters quicker.
I will not do this in the future, as I don't really want a customers funds until I have a rest with their name on it here to ship to them.
We were gone for a period of time to see family for Christmas (wasn't around to answer the phone).
After we got back from KS, I got the flu and was down for more time.
I have been playing catch-up since then, and haven't caught up on emails (will start doing that after this post).
The folks that had sent me money for the NEO's have all been sent out earlier today.
If I miss returning a phone call, please call again.
I will not/do not intentionally ignore anyone.
Can I misplace a number, forget, or make a mistake?--Yes!
We will be out of pocket soon again since I am a grandpa for the first time, and i am going to see my grandson.
Email will be the only way during that period of time, although we have someone house sitting for us.
I don't intend to do business on the thread of a forum.
Please call and or email me.
If you call and do not leave a message, I will not know who tried to contact us.
I know you guys want your rest ASAP.
I wish Sebastian could keep up with all the demands (as does he), but he has a full-time job and a family as well.
I think precision shooters are some of the neatest and best people in the world.
I have enjoyed the visits that we have had.
I hope this explains some of the circumstances.
For those who have been offended, my apologies.
Ernie

Sebastian shipped two batches before Christmas and one batch got held up in Belgium. Can't really hold that against him or Ernie.
I know Ernie busted a hump to get the first batch shipped out the day before he left for his Christmas trip and it was much appreicated.

Both are good guys dealing with the unpredictability of international shipping and no need to disparage them with comparisons to US based mfrs.

Love my SEB neo. Can't wait for temps to climb just a bit above freezing so I can try it out.
