SavageShooters Forum Shutting Down

All true. A helluva lot more “ Poors “ ( Snipers Hide derogatory term for anyone not well heeled enough to have at the minimum one custom, component comprised, multi thousand dollar , can shoot two counties over , rig ) than the uber competitive, condescending ,eccentric cyber bullies encountered too frequently on some sites.

The gear-obsessed 30 something outdoor yuppies have invaded everything not just shooting. They grew up on the internet and are creatures of social media.

I have only owned Savages since right before Covid-19 hit. So while I know of the site I was never on the site.

It does make me sad to see any gun related site fade away but it is the nature of things.

I'm another who was active on the Savage forum, but, lurk in here a lot. I'm not surprised that forum is closing. More surprised at how many years it was kept running. A forum is really difficult to keep up and running, not even mentioning cost.

If not for a Walmart special Axis (varmint barrel .223) I would probably not be shooting rifles much. I bought it as a cheap plinker. It was accurate enough to hook me into the game a bit. I added a 12 Varmint to the stable and have fun with it. Not a great shot and still on a budget but I get by. Still shoot just for fun. I am glad that Fuj' and a few others were on there to help us neophytes get better.

You have about 6 weeks to search the site to glean any information You can before they close down. Maybe answer some questions You may have about Your Savages. I recommend We all take advantage of this time.

Charlie, always enjoyed and benefited from your comments relative to Savage rifles. Hope you’ll stay active through this or another forum. Always knew I could get good info from you and others ( some of whom were banned ! ) on Savage Shooters.

Mr Baker did say that he would have the information available on his Facebook account.

Trouble with trying to download parts (which I have started doing) is that some of the best 'gems' are hidden in various threads, sometimes as off topic 'drifts'. Tough to find all those.

Maybe if enough of us pitched in we could have it moved here if we knew the cost and had a fund raiser. A lot of you seemed really concerned. I would help and I just don't like things of value thrown away.

Even if it were pared down to only the FAQ and Savage/Stevens Firearms Boards, that would save a great deal of old and obscure info. Maybe as a "Read Only".

I was one of those that was on Specialty Pistols but never really moved on to Savage Shooters. The real bummer about losing these forums is all the knowledge that goes away with it.
A few of us have put together a new forum recently. Come check it out. You’re likely to recognize several members.

Certainly. However having a group out there that are now ‘site less’ would surely be enticing.
Does adding another section require an injection of funds? Would these funds be offset by the increase in members?
Of course I have NO idea but it seems a great deal of the administration time is trying to control the classified section. Being scammers or outright crooks. Phony names, addresses, non existent products etc.
Then again being outshot with your many thousand dollar action by a guy with a savage action may not appeal to some.
My first experience with any kind of rifle was with a Savage lrpv in 6br. I still have info from this site on loading for it from early days. I eventually got a new barrel shoulder fit. I will say, some of the smallest groups I've ever shot were with that thing. Are all my customs nicer/smoother? Absolutely. Still, that thing amazed me and quite a few others.
I gave it to my son.

My first range rifle was an LRPV, 7 twist .223. Still shoot it regularly out to 500 with 2,000+ rounds down the pipe. Except for the common Savage somewhat heavy bolt lift ( not an issue for me, not that bad and I shoot it slow anyway), has been flawless functionally.

Found out about this site from Savage Shooters after it's closing was announced. Thanks for accepting this old guy here. Shot 40 Xs for ever and migrated to Savages 3 or 4 decades ago and found they can really shoot with the right trigger monkey at the helm and do as well or better than anyone ever thought. Have been known to snooze in the prone waiting for range flags to settle down.IMG_2848_zpsdtnpskwi.webpRange.jpgSavage .308 7.jpgSavage .308 8.jpg Whatta Hobby!
