Savage model 10 hard extraction 6 creedmoor

From all of the jabber and off subject stuff, it sure sounds like brass spring back to me.
From what I can sort out sounds like some high pressure loads as well, that does some crazy stuff to brass that can’t be fixed.

PM me if you want to check out the primary extraction stuff I mentioned, I don't want to add a sub convo to the original chat

Looking back at the red case near the end of the 1st page, the case mouth seems to have some taper or roll over starting about 1/6 maybe 3/16 before the end. Almost like the chamber is forming the end of the brass. Maybe just be the oic, but worth a look.

Your correct they are rolled/tapered in good eye frank, what the heck causes that ?
Upon closer inspection the case mouths are slightly dented in one spot. I need to really scope the chamber at the case mouth good all the way around and make sure there isn’t a burr or trash there. I have let the trim length go to get close to the case mouth on purpose. I guess fastest and easiest thing to do would be to trim them. Using a bore scope and watching the brass go in there is still wiggle room where I was looking, might not be 180 degrees on the other side.

If they are indeed too long once it fires and the case mouth hits the leade I’m sure that causes pressure and could cause the base of the case to swell since it can’t go forward anymore

I used the hodgdon load data. Theirs claim 41.3 in a winchester case with 24” barrel is running 3009

I’m at 39.5 with adg brass which does have a smaller capacity running 2975 with a 26” barrel. If it was hot wouldn’t it have shown up in the previous rounds. I have about 175 down the barrel. I recently went from the hornady 105 to the 107 smk with no other changes. It shot much more consistent at 800
That's 2 grains over the Sierra manual max. Sounds like you started at a max load from the Hornady manual. Every gun is different things like bore dimensions, bullet length ect. Did you ever shoot lighter loads and see if the problem goes away? Why wouldn't you suspect heavy bolt lift wasn't related to a hot load in your rifle. The simple thing is to back off 2 grains and see if the problem goes away. Doesn't cost money, no gunsmith fees, no chamber or die cast.

I can try that. First I’m going to get them trimmed. Hodgdon starts at 37.5 max is 41.3. I started at 39.0. I’m not saying it isn’t a hot load in my rifle but the bolt lift doesn’t feel like others I have felt in other rifles nor does the primers look bad to me. That’s what I went off of

Good luck. You will get it solved.

if you can get a borescope, it may help on the long nk issue I did notice you have rolled case mouth edges but a bore scope will tell you quick if your too long, I chk a few cases every firing to make sure my cases are not getting to long, I have the starting measurments but cases can grow it's good to keep an eye on them and keep them measured to eliminate issues, you may want to just get a new barrel, a Criterion will make you happy

I didnt read everything but that chamber looks very rough. I have used Stockade bolts handles forever and have great results on easier extraction. So may check him out and they are 45 and 55 dollars each and well worth it. You might consider a small base die.

I found a rcbs 45 acp sizing die new at the pawn shop this morning. Tried it with some hornady brass that was fired once in my chamber when gun was new. It sized down to .468- .469. My fired brass 4 times now is at .471. Will the .468 size be fine or too excessive ? It more or less is taking it back to what the brass measures when new
