Reports of people screwing barrels on hand tight

I have never heard of a receiver or barrel tenon being damaged by over tightening.
For experimentation and data gathering sake I’ve taken them up to 120ft lbs with no damage or anything negative I can see. IMO anything over 100ft lbs is overkill and is the point where it starts to get a little difficult holding on to the barrel when tightening. I’ve ruined the finish on Cerakote’d barrels when they’ve slipped going to or over 100ft lbs forcing a do over. This is a bigger problem on barrels with limited or no parallel shank where you are holding on to a taper instead of a cylinder and worse yet when attempting to hold a fluted taper or partially fluted taper. When fitting barrels I’m aiming for 85-95 ft lbs. That gives me a nice attainable range to fit and time fluted barrels. That range is easily attained with a good vise and an internal wrench. I know some fit to less torque but I’m aiming for maximum easily achievable torque without damaging the finish which for me is that 85-95ish range.
