Report on Surgery Relevant for Older Males

Jeff, wishing you a speedy recovery!

I will strongly second, go to your doctor if something just doesn't seem right. Stents at 44 and a triple bypass at 53. I'm 6' 187lbs. So I don't necessarily look like the a guy ready to have a heart attack. By Gods grace I didn't and both time I was able to have repairs done before any damage was done. Bear hunting in Alaska and just didn't feel right. Enough so that I went to ER. None of us like to go to doctors but none of us want to die any earlier than we need to.. Wishing good health to everyone!

Ouch, looking at that xray hurts. I hope they fixed you up in a very positive way.
They certainly did, and thanks for asking.
After destroying my right shoulder totally, this was only choice left. Called correctly’Full reversal shoulder replacement’. You can see the ball and socket have switched locations and are made of alloy containing titanium and cobalt. I will tell you the picture of the X-ray
makes it appear way worse than it is, and I don’t want in anyway to detract from the surgeon’s skill. After 5 months healing I’m reading to shoot again…..carefully! I’ll stick with my BR rifles all light recoil. Strictly a 100 yard shooter.

Prayers sent. Heal well. God is good!
The end of February i had my right rotator cuff repaired with a few extra tears in other tendons put back together. I'm 8 weeks post-op fron a complete reversal replacement on my left shoulder. I had torn all 4 tendons in my chest area by my shoulder also.the bottom one was.torn 90% into from the bottom up.
Healing well and doing physical therapy everyday since the day after surgery.

Married 45 years to a retired Nurse and I just turned 66 on November 13th. Life is good.

Tuesday the 18th I had a Robatic Assisted Prostectemy. So now 2 days later still no pain. Twinge across the waist getting up or down but less each time. Was I apprehensive and nervous? Yes and no. I had a lot of friends praying for me and was comfortable just leaving everything in God's hands, the Great Physician. Don't wait, it won't go away but it will kill you. I had a double hernia fixed 6 months turning the 3 hr procedure into 5 hr, but all good. Mine was maximum size for this procedure to remove in 1 piece, Dr said it was larger than a tennis ball. I never had any issues but get a regular 6 month checkup. I'm 78 and started the checkups about 30 years ago, always been healthy. PSA number creeping up until my family Dr made me see a Urologist. I had a lot of choices, I went with my Drs pick, glad I did. So listen up guys, save your life. Only downside limited to 10lbs for 3 months, it will pass. I did it, so can anyone of you.
It's good that you caught it when you did. MIne was too late for surgery, the whole prostate was cancer and couldn't be removed. Plus metastatic. You did it right. Sounds like you'll be fine, that's good.

welcome to the club. Mine was a Brachytherapy. They just inject a tiny radioactive "seed" here and there.
An hour after the surgery I walked out the front door of the VA Hospital in Seattle. Eight years later I am still alive and kicking...

Prostate cancer, no issues. Regular blood test PSA numbers told me I had an issue.
If you are 40 or over get it done @ year and it may save your life…
First full {Top to Bottom, full blood work} physical in 10 years came back with double digit PSA,,,!
No 3 month wait to see the Urologist…! Five days later getting the biopsy and bad news…
Went for the Nuclear option to avoid surgical problems and equipment failure to launch…
“Non, je ne regrette rien"
Hope to see lots more “Mile Stone” birthdays because things were caught in time….

That is the treatment for “some” types of prostate cancer but not for everyone…
Got the gold seeds for locating the rotating Nuclear machine and then 3x a week for 30 days… My hospital has two of those $5 million German machines…
OZ Medicare picked up total cost of all treatment and consultations….
Told my son when I go through the ash furnace someday to be sure to collect the gold crowns and the little needles as at today’s price of gold it is worth his while to sift dear old dad through a sieve… :p

It's been said prior to my post and what I have to say may just be a repeat.
Checkups and visits catch things you may not be aware of or you might point out things your doctors miss.
I'm 25 years past my first diagnosis with non-hodgkins lymphoma, stage 4. Beat that.
4 years ago the doctor's office calls me with results from my yearly physical that my PSA is elevated and lo and behold I get the notice from the urologist I have prostate cancer, woo hoo.
It's been an anxiety filled and rather unpleasant few years since then with trips through the same old machines I am familiar with, some new procedures and treatments, but I'm still here, thank you Lord Jesus, so get checked out regularly you will be grateful you did.
