Has anyone their rifle back from Remington after the recall? I sent mine in on April 19th and not only do I not know when I will get it back (i've call Remington twice) but I can't even get my rifle back. Why? Because according to 2 customer service reps, they cannot find the rifle in their warehouse (there are too many rifles being stored there).

I sent the rifle to the Warranty Repair Center called Gunworks. They sent it to Remington the next day.

This is unacceptable from Remington! A buddy is experiencing the same treatment. He purchased a Remington 700 LRH in 7mm Mag in March and it has a bad chamber, 4 different factory loads and the brass sticks so bad in the chamber you have to use a cleaning rod to get the bolt open. He brought the gun to a Remington Platinum Repair Facility and they checked the gun and it needs a new barrel. So besides the trigger recall he is waiting for them to replace the barrel. He has called Remington 4 times, each a 30-45 min hold and today was told they have no idea when he will receive his rifle back. Remington has issued him 3 different repair ticket numbers, currently his ticket no. is 88971. They told him they have 6000 rifles in a warehouse in Maryland waiting for triggers. This is unacceptable! He asked for a replacement rifle and was told NO model 700's are available to ship and he could get his rifle back with a new barrel and no trigger but first they have to find his rifle. Needless to say, this is his last Remington firearm he will ever purchase.

I also find this unacceptable. The fair treatment of customers is a hallmark of successful companies. While the CSRs were not rude or inappropriate in any way, their way the company has responded to this crisis is really unacceptable. Next time I purchase a rifle, I will think twice before I go the remi route.

Wile we would of liked to do the same with replacing the trigger, the Repair Facility did not give us that option, we were under the impression that the trigger would be serviced or replaced by the repair facility, Upon learning that was not going to happen we inquired about getting the gun back and we would replace the trigger our self, however they had shipped the gun back to Remington and now sits in a warehouse

Thanks for replying Xwanted. I am not asking for a replacement. I just want information. With over 2 million being recalled, its a massive operation. If its going to take months to repair, then why get all the rifles back to the warehouse. Liability? The recall notice states not to use the rifle.
If I take my car in for a recall, should I expect it to be out of commission for 3 months? So far its been 1 month. I asked CSR if I will get it back by September. I was told we have no idea!! They couldn't even tell me where I am in the queue.
This to me smells of poor planning. I made an error sending it in 2 days after the recall. I should have just got a jewel trigger. My error. But the penalty is too stiff.

I have told all my non competition shooting friends to replace the triggers themselfs, or keep what ya got.
If they could do 20,000 guns a day which I am sure they cant ,it would take 100 days just to replace the triggers not minding they have to document everything and ship them back.This could take years.

IF the triggers are truly unsafe, Remington is doing the right thing by removing them from use. This will be a gigantic undertaking, which is going to take a long time. There will undoubtedly be lawsuit problems in this sue happy climate that we live in for years to come. There is no way for Remington to ever recall the many X Mark triggers that have been sold on various web forums. Hindsight is truly 20-20, but as you mentioned, you should have had it fixed by a competent gunsmith for a few bucks. Better yet remove it and install the model of your choice manufactured by Jewell. You made a mistake by sending it off to Remington. We have all made mistakes. Live with it. All this whining on the www is not going to solve the problem. :
according to what rem. emailed me the the smooth surface x mark pro triggers with the smooth surface trigger shoes are what theyre concerned about/ i emailed them not even concerned about mine as it has a shilen trigger& i just wanted to know when the rifle was made/ gave them the serial # they emailed me back saying not to worry mine was made in 2001 i think i would change the trigger myself or live with it /as stated above they will probably have your rifle a long time regards shooter63
Got mine back? Heck i have not even recieved my prepaied shipping box! Im in No hurry to send my rifle to Rem for who knows how long.... i did a close inspection of mine gave it a patient cleaning adjusted it down to 2.5 lbs and it feels perfect. Contrary to the internet negitive hype i like the xpro trigger. Im capable of shooting .440" groups 200 meters so the trigger is working excellent for me.
The triggers will not be replaced. The issue is that at assembly they put too much sealant on the adjusting screws. The triggers are fine except of that. Just clean off the sealant, reseal and test fire. What is incredibly stupid is why seal in the first place if you are going to adjust it? By the way, I have a rifle in there too. God only knows when I will ever see it again. Keep all your documentation.
I made their list five or six weeks ago after I checked the serial number OL and found my VLS left Remington with an XMP amongst the recalled. Still no box, paperwork, not a word but it don’t matter since apparently Remington wants the rifle and will not accept only the questionable XMP. A Jewell varmint replaced that one years ago and yesterday Big Brown dropped by with a Timney Calvin Elite to replace the also recalled XMP in my latest acquisition. I’m going in these earliest version XMPs to see what all’s different compared to Remington’s pre-2006 more tinker friendly group. Then depending, I’ll either fix me up with a couple good spare triggers or just trash both them there thingies.
If my rifle(s) were subject to recall for faulty triggers, I would NOT send them back. Shipping guns these days is a PITA. Dealing with a vendor overwhelmed by a recall would be another PITA. Tweaking or replacing the trigger is usually a simple task, if you have patience and mechanical aptitude.
I would no more send my rifles back for this reason than I would send a rifle to somebody to install a scope on it. Nope, going to do it myself, so I know it's done the RIGHT way.
As to liability, for the alarmists among us, consider this:
Every gun is loaded.
Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.
Never put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire.
Always be sure of your target and what's behind it.
I would no more send my rifles back for this reason than I would send a rifle to somebody to install a scope on it. Nope, going to do it myself, so I know it's done the RIGHT way.
