Anyone suppress their benchrest 6ppc/etc?

Why on earth would you buy a dedicated BR rifle and then bend over backwards to f..k it up?
P.S. what benefit might you expect with a round going down the pipe at over 60,000 psi ?

God has blessed me to be able to own enough property to have a 300 yd range but I also have neighbors and the suppressor keeps the noise down. Also it is really a joy to shoot!!
Oh yeah there is no need to get your panties in a wad, it’s my money!!

Since it is illegal for NY residents to own a suppressor why do you even care?
I've shot the 300 Win Mag 230 grain Bergers at supersonic speeds suppressed and it does cut down blast, reduce some noise and (I know you will say BS because it's who you are) makes the recoil softer.
Suppressors are not the same in the real world as on TV and movies. There is still the crack of the bullet and, in semi-autos, the cycling of the bolt causes noise alone. Not to mention the unlocking gases allow some of the noise from firing to escape.

I shook my head at first, then thought about a 6br barrel I was gifted ( because it only shot in the high 2's) that a famous smith put on my 700 with the 40x stock I bought at a gun show, all in the mid 80's. I have maybe $300 in it. Like OP, don't shoot it in competition so it's just an extremely accurate rifle that sees 50 shots in 5 years. So yeah, I can see threading as value added to the next owner. I'm 71 and have 3 6br rifles and someone is likely to buy them in next 10 years.

1st, This would not be a "DEDICATED" BR rifle. I have plenty of those. They are dedicated. One for LV short range group, 1 for HV short range score, 1 for hunter class short range score, 1 for mid/long range group and score etc etc.

2nd this rifle would be for club shoots where weight does not matter.

3rd the suppressor does not have the same kind of pressure numbers that a suppressor does. Those numbers are significantly lower.

The benefit is this. A proven accurate rifle that is quieter, has less recoil, and is generally more pleasant to shoot.

I have a rebarreled Sako 6PPC single shot. Aside from being a lighter action than an R700 and varminter sporter stock it’s kinda set up as a benchrest rifle. Anyway I had the barrel threaded. It mostly wears a tuner but when I’d put my suppressor on, it could shoot good small groups.

Obviously the suppressor has no tuning adjustment. The other thing I notice is it always takes a few shots to warm up and print tight groups. The first couple are well out of the group. If I give it long enough to cool it takes another couple warmup shots to group again.

With the tuner on, the first shot was often right on the mark. Never something I expect but if I were hunting with it that’s obviously valuable.

If you wanted to be serious the carbon load in the suppressor surely isn’t constant and that would be another unhelpful variable.

Interesting observations on cold/carbon loaded suppressor accuracy! I had not noticed this, but I will check next time I’m at my range.

These are things that represent the next area of ultimate rifle accuracy testing to be explored. How about building a suppressor with a tuner in it? We know thunderbeast already makes suppressor/brake combos.

What about a new class of Short Range BR suppressed competition to drive innovation?

Several guys noticed same cold suppressor poi issue on Snipershide starting in 2019. No solutions offered in that thread.

OH MY!
You forgot the most important reasons.
4th This is AMERICA and I can.
5th BECAUSE I WANT TO!!!!
:D

You'll like it!
I used to compete in 600yd ...the 6BR, 6 Dasher and 22BR are all just for casual target shooting and many many prarie dogs now. The heavy barrels all shoot .2's and .3's with or without a 30 cal supressor. V small adj in point of impact but I do not remember how much...I have not shot them UNsupressed in several years. Why shoot unsupressed? It's just too nice.

If someone would loan me a suppressor, I could take one of my 6PPC barres that I know will agg in the “teens”, install it, and do a heads up test to see if the barrel still had Benchrest Accuracy.
Feds will come after you if you borrow an evil class 3 device. Prob prison time.
