Upon assembling a long awaited barreled action from Krieger which was to be installed on a manners T4 with mini chassis, I discovered something I have never seen nor heard of before. Placing the barreled action in the chassis seemed to be all fine and dandy until putting the action screws in. The front screw went in just fine, the rear screw however would not even begin to thread. Thinking this was weird, I placed another rem 700 barreled action I had around in the stock And everything line up and screwed together just fine. Upon further inspection I was shown to determine that the rear action hole on the brand new action had been drilled/threaded approximately 1/4 of the diameter of the hole too far forward, thus not allowing the rear action screw to thread in whatsoever. Contacted Remington and obtained a service request number and they wanted it sent to a gunsmith of their choice (on my dime). I called their chosen gunsmith to discuss the situation and he said there was nothing he could do to fix it and would just end up sending it to the factory for replacement (which is what I assumed his response would be). Hopefully they do the right thing here and replace the action under warranty. The process was just started today so we will see where it goes from here.
My question is: has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did Remington resolve it for you?
