Rem action accuracy

Squint, I have a factory 700 in 25-06 that shoots terribly. I will try to shoot a baseline of 5-3shot groups. I have a custom stock for it and will repeat the test. I will install a Shilen hunting trigger and test again. I will chamber a custom barrel for it next. I am waiting on days that are cooler than 95 degrees. I will post photos.

Come on guys, don't you know that the best records ever shot, are the ones shot at Manatee. And in the worse conditions of any range, and still able to shoot the best records. And Larry's guns, or other guns smithed by Bostrom have set them all. No other records anywhere mean as much, because they were not shot at Manatee against the guns used there, in the conditions they have, or in the formats that they use.

And it don't matter if other gunsmiths were dialing in barrels true to the bore, or indexing the barrels for years and decades previous. Once it gets done down there, then it is truly new advanced cutting edge technology and the only way to smith !.!.!

But I do find it hard at times to decipher the "jibber", to get the most from the reply (my bad).

I like your magic way with words .
Like I said I don't feel any records will ever be set at manatee Because of the conditions
And i think all good gun smiths time and indicate off the bore.
We could of had records if you had kept your end of the promise to bring shooters to Florida.
My end is still open . What date would you like to make it happen. Larry

Thought you had records... you speak of them all the time. What gives?

Attend the IBS 1000 National's in GA, and you can discuss sanctioning matches with the IBS LR then and there. And at the same time, you can see how competitive your rifles, tunes, and ability are against a crop of serious competitors. Plus have a bunch of fun and meet a bunch of great people.

You can't read I guess,
Do you think they are that much better then when I went to Pennsylvania .
I never met a nicer bunch of shooters there.
I looked at the results there and the showed bad conditions you dont set records . Bring half of who you promised to cool acres. . They would love to have records set .
Just brings them half of what you promised me . I would check if they can hand that many shooters . Keep you promise you gave me they will be happy . Larry

Larry -
I told you that if you sanctioned IBS-1000 matches at Manatee, that I would try to make it down for at least one winter match per season, and possibly bring along a friend or two.

You replied back to me to bring 30-guys and the prizes, and you would get it done if I could guarantee you that. I replied back that you would have to do your own promoting, but that I myself would try to make it down to at least 1 match per winter.

If you need me to copy and paste that whole exchange we had to refresh your memory, I can?

Now, back to the Manatee records... what can't I read?

Those are the records you always write of.....
So what records are they that you "don't feel any records will ever be set at manatee Because of the conditions"?

If your talking about IBS records, first have to hold sanctioned IBS matches at Manatee. But if Manatee did, then you could have nationally recognized IBS club records there, and have chances at the IBS national records as well, just like every IBS sanctioned range does (that's where they come from).

My current plans are to attend the 2016 IBS1000 National's at Swainsboro, GA. It will be a +25-hr drive of something like 1620-miles from up here to there. And if I make it down, it will be with Tom who will have 13-hrs further yet and something like 2600-miles in total.
Its just a hop and a skip into the next state for you, hope you don't pooch...

There will be a lot more to win then a ribbon.... lol
Besides the significantly sized trophies awarded and honors of being a National Champion and/or placing, there will be a considerable sized prize table with scopes, custom actions, stocks, bullets, reloading equipment, etc., etc. But like you to down play it as a ribbon shoot for a lame excuse.

The other thing that will come for anyone that goes and participates is, they can say they were there and tried. And that there rifles, equipment, and loads were good enough to compete against some of the best 1000yd shooters in the world, regardless of the finishing positions.

This is great! I don't shoot benchrest but you got me wanting to go.
Oh and you forgot to mention how great the range is and real southern hospitality ,not that imported Florida stuff.

I wouldn't Down play the shoot or discredit it . Just bring you're friends you will have to a great time . And you can take a new national record back north .
At Williamsport port i thought they were some of the best . Can't wate for all the new records . Larry

You don't even comprehend how bad you are making yourself look. Bunch of people rolling their eyes and chuckling.

Let them enjoy .
I don't feel their is better shooters or guns then at Williamsport
And I can see that conditions determine the out come.
I fully understand when someone tell me he is going to do something and he doesn't do it it . He is blowing smoke Enjoy Larry

Great experiment! I'm curious about whether there's a difference between the action un-trued, and after it's been cleaned up. Guess you'd have to either Rem-age the barrel, or be willing to chamber it twice.

That said, I bet the stock and trigger make the biggest difference...

So why dont you to email each other pictures then between the two of you decide which ones bigger and then we can all get back to the topic?

One of the best derailed threads I've read in a while. At LEAST "all the bullet hold I can get" and "my students" weren't discussed (a couple of my favorite posters for no reason at all).

However, a five star rating goes to one who cannot be pinned down for a straight answer. It's been like a movie where you cannot just jump in at the middle, you have to watch the whole thing and headaches in the middle be damned.

Absolutely no offense intended or implied.

Ummm, yep a Remington can be made to shoot well.....

im just a sling sling shooter but most of our records where set with remingtons and winchesters. I buy my actions as used deer rifles right after deer season and right before xmas. Sell the stock, barrel, bolt, scope, and bottom medal and usually end up somewhere around $0 for the action. Buy a ptg bolt to my specs and then a buddy trues and blueprints them for free. slap a barrel on and put it in an elesio chassis and away ya go. Look out xring
