Reloading, not for the squeamish?

I've injured my elbow several times resizing 100's of 223 at a time. Not sling worthy, but I was often reminded (every time I bent it) that it was not 100%. Non shooters that overheard reloading conversations at work didn't seem to care - I am in AR so maybe that had something to do with it.

When I came home of leave from the Army, I was going through the Pittsburgh Airport and a group of young people were calling me a baby killer and spitting at me. I didn't bother to engage, or explain that first I was drafted, second, I just completed basic and hadn't killed anyone.

I worked at Company that was filled with anti-hunting and anti-gun people - the mere mention of hunting would invoke an outcry of inhumane behavior from the anti's. I didn't bother to explain that big juicy steak they were munching on came from an animal that had been killed.

Bottom line - You will never will a debate with these kinds of people - their minds are fixed so the best policy in my opinion is don't engage. It's best not to discuss these kinds of sensitive issue unless you know the person's feelings on the issue.

I'm not saying we should be ashamed of our hunting and sports shooting, I'm not but I don't go around broadcasting it either unless I'm with like-minded folks. I learned that lesson from my in-laws - they are horrified that I shot Bambi's father (an impressive 9-point buck) when I proudly showed them a picture of my deer hunt at a family gathering.

Why would the IRS need armed enforcement, the democrats would not arrest for looting, arson, theft(no sales tax paid),assault, rape during the "peaceful" protests. Simple tax evasion should be a phone message on your obama phone, just like if you need to show up for immigration hearing.

And why would reloading evoke such a strong negative response?

Please discuss...
Unfortunately because an increasing number of people believe you should not be allowed to possess a gun in the first place and as a secondary consequence you therefore don't need to reload. Many of these people just close their mind to any reasonable discussion, its just 'no' in their view. And they are voters.

We hang out with four other couples and three of us reload/hunt/shoot competition. One guy in the group plays golf like it's a religion and is always trying to hijack the conversation about reloading to golf even though none of us play golf.
Next time he hijacks ...Just ask him why it takes 5 shots to go 550 yds when you can do it in 1. Then tell him a Golf course is a perfect waste of land for a nice shooting range.

Play the video that shows the girl trembling when she sees a truck with an American flag in the back. This must be the same girl that gets all out of shape about reloading.

If Jennifer Anniston didn't kill me, the wife surely would when she found out!!!!

Been playing golf for about 60 years. Got down to a 4 handicap till I hurt my back. 550 yards, thats only 2 shots!!

Think I would have made up some BS about riding my Harley and some cager pulled in front of me. Almost got stopped in time, but hit a big pothole and went down :)

Very early in my corporate career, I had a very innocent conversation about guns with a like-minded co-worker which was overheard by another. That individual never got over it and avoided me at all costs from that point forward, though we'd been perfectly cordial before that.

Lesson learned. I don't talk guns or hunting at work for any reason. If I identify co-workers who are like-minded, we talk about it in private on our 1:1s or over beers after hours.

These people usually aren't acting like this for rational reasons, so I don't pretend to think I can reason with them.

I was 12 at a big shot wedding in Calgary. This lady cousin says what do you do for fun. “I shoot things” Oops. Tried to explain Lee hand dies and target shooting. At the time I was quite proud of myself as the only kid in any grade in my home town handloading. She looked down her nose at me for shooting animals while chewing her steak.

So I guess I should not have shown the photo of the dead PD parts to my neighbor today? I had him going with the live rattlesnake and the big black widow spider photos from Oklahoma...being all National Geographic and all, then I hit him with the parts is parts photo. He loved it! Found out he hates chipmunks and quietly traps and "removes" them. It was like finding a kindred spirit in my own neighborhood.

Didn't know him well, so I took the chance figuring that if he was upset, so what...I hardly knew him!
