and since I don't do Facebook........... My daughter was here today and brought a large mosquito (deceased) with her to show me. They are very numerous where she lives. I have seen them, but was never bothered by them. She was bitten on the top of her hand by one of these recently. It turned the top of her hand and three outer fingers numb. That seems a rather extreme reaction, and somewhat troubling. I have attached a picture below. Does anyone know exactly what strain of mosquito these pesky rascals are?

I have been stung by those before. Like a wasp sting. I don't think it's a mosquito. When I was a kid growing up in the country, we called them mosquito killers.

Look up Cranefly. (I don't think that's what stung her though). My Grandma used to call them "Snollygosters" o_O

Yep looks like a crane fly. They dont sting that I know of. May have been stung by something else. Symptoms sound like wasp, yellow jacket, hornet.
