Obviously you are correct, and it is wayyyyyyy painfully obvious that there are a lot of Redding investors/owner's that are forum members, only thing I can think of for sticking up for shoddy craftsmanship on there boxes, top rate dies in bottom rate packages, makes sense to me for sureskyav8r said:Lol. Absolutely nothing Frank, worked for me for years.Frank Blum said:What is the problem with dummy rounds? Later! Frank

Because you don't want to...
There is nothing wrong with Redding dies, I would say the contact cleaner had something to do with your problem, there boxes suck but not the dies themselves, sorry you had a bad experience, I think that has happened to all of us at one piont or another.jhord said:I've laughed this thread off until today. New Redding .223 FL die. I sprayed it out with contact cleaner, mounted it up in the press, inserted a clean, Imperial lubricated case and.... scrrrrrrrrich! Stuck. Rim ripped off, and when I finally got it apart and the case out, found a stripped stem and fractured expander ball. All I can figure is, the expander was set too high and it wedged. FML. Meanwhile, my $11 Lee FL die just keeps chugging along... serves me right for thinking something else was better.

It's not the fault of the manufacturer if you mess up a die due to laziness.....
Duh!.....like we didn't know that are ready LOL. Chuck,...this same type tread was going on sometime back and one of the forum members went to Redding just as you did,............He got the same answerridgeway said:Redding called me today about the box issue. He said there isn't enough complaints about the box to warrant an investment in molding a new container. He suggested to remove the micrometer top, or screw it back down to fit the box.

Yes you do!hogan said:Really like to spend time bitchin about die boxes?
Forster boxes half suck anyway, even though they are long enough to hold an assembled die body die, most of the time...
But really, what is the point of trying to pretend you understand the dynamics of precision shooting, if you believe that without shoulder support in a seater die, you can't properly seat a bullet?

I sent them back with a fired case and they told me I had a tight or small chamber, and I needed a small base die which they do not make. It's odd that my 30 year old RCBS that is not small base works fine. I have also tried their bushing dies and always ended up with poor runout. I have gone to Forster and am completely happy. The custom neck honing service they provide is an excellent setup. My 2 cents worth. Barlow
