Prone Style Shooting Bench

Anyone have pictures, plan, or such to help give me an idea how to build a prone style shooting bench...

Ive seen one on a video once, cant find the video again, but it didnt show the bench really well either.. it was a long range 375 cheytac video i think..

Basically it is a sheet of plywood withca base built at an angle that you lay on with the rifle and you can position yourself to where it doesnt hurt your neck so bad. Helps keep you neck in a straighter more normal position...

I have a hard time laying behind a gun for real long... my neck cramps up and everything starts hurting pretty quick...

What about just using a regular portable bench lowered down so you sit on the ground?

Thanks for that! Those arent what im looking for though. I think what im looking for is in that 375 cheytac world record video... its slanted at an angle..

These images remind me of nap time in kindergarten. What ever happened to getting down in the dirt and mud?

Be one helluva cloud of dust with big guns carrying muzzle brakes if they were all lying in the dirt with flat ground in front of them like those shots show.

This is a basic plan of what im after... just a quick drawing...

Flat surface on top, slope in the rear, carpet down for the bipod to rest on, 2x4 at the very front to load up the bipod against some...

Theory is you lay behind the rifle on the slant and your neck is in a more normal position. More like laying into a benched rifle...

How high is your gun off the ground normally? Once I have mine set up how I like it; I could literally fall asleep behind it. I have lower back problems but not neck so maybe that's the difference.

A couple wheels off the front of the bench in your drawing would make it pretty easy to move around actually. As long as it fit in the back of your truck or trailer at least.

I have a rempel bipod and edge wood gator bag... never measured how high... laying and shooting on a flat surface hurt my neck after a while and my back.. i have 2 hernated discs in my lower back too..

You're right John. I eat a lot of dirt and gravel during matches and practice sessions. Keeps my body's mineral content at its peak. :)
