You're right that people coming into the sport are going to be priced out of it, especially competitive shooting which for the most part has been struggling for years to increase participation.I feel badly for those new to the sport. It’s a poor time to be getting started in reloading. I do however have no pity for guys who have been shooting and reloading for years but failed to plan ahead.
It wasn’t two years ago that places actually ran sales on both primers and powder. Some even waived or reduced hazmat charges. I don’t remember anyone complaining that the suppliers should be charging more so they continued to make a fair profit.
Nobody complained when suppliers were running sales a few years back because they were still making profit. I may not be the sharpest tack when it comes to business, but I would think that they still would have been selling product for more than they paid.
