Wow
just timing and not so....a couple months back feds were available.....The problem right now is CCI is the only one in the game. With Remington, Winchester, Wolf, and Federal out of the picture they can demand pretty much any price. I don't know anyone but the current generation and new reloaders that are paying the high prices. They don't know what prices were 5 years ago. And if there's any old fools paying the high prices, shame on you, you should know better. Let's be patient, prices will come down.
Why do you say CCI is the only one in the game? Please explain. The problem right now is CCI is the only one in the game. How very socialistYou should share that great find with everyone here.
Midway, Midsouth and Target Sport all had federals in the last 48 hours. When was the last time you saw Federal primers for sale? For the last few month's it's all CCI!
Exactly right. It’s the same thing when someone posts a classified here for an item with a price everyone feels is too high. It sits there for a period of time and doesn’t sell. Then the seller starts dropping the price, sometimes multiple times until it reaches a fair price where someone will buy it.At 140.00 per k no thanks. People need to stop buying and prices will come down. Simple economics.

Glad to hear Federal is back in the mix and I'm sure we'll see Remington back soon as well. CCI is going to keep the Remington name on ammo as well as primers. My posts were in reference to what's happened in the last 18 months. I'm sure we'll be seeing more competition in this area as time goes by. Maybe demand will taper off.Midway, Midsouth and Target Sport all had federals in the last 48 hours.
Not trying to raise your temp or anything, just saying.
Key word there is "investor", they invest and they expect a return on investment!!I need an angel investor to start up my new primer manufacturing business
I am set with primers for many years to come and bullets in some calibers for the rest of my life. Always have been so I’m upset for the new shooters or people who haven’t been doing it long enough to know what happened back in 2008.I feel badly for those new to the sport. It’s a poor time to be getting started in reloading. I do however have no pity for guys who have been shooting and reloading for years but failed to plan ahead.
It wasn’t two years ago that places actually ran sales on both primers and powder. Some even waived or reduced hazmat charges. I don’t remember anyone complaining that the suppliers should be charging more so they continued to make a fair profit.
What bothers me more me than the shortage and prices is all the complaining about those prices. Sure I wish they were lower but I understand we live in a capitalist society in the greatest country in the world.
When I hear terms like “price gouging” it really upsets me. We live in a free market society. Supply and demand set market prices. Most of the time the system works well. In uncertain times though, unnatural forces skew both the perceived supply and perceived demand. The thing to remember is eventually things get back to normal. Do prices steadily climb over time, yes but that is the case with all goods and services.
Sometimes the rebound is so severe that retailers even run sales or eat hazmat charges just as they did a couple years ago. Imagine that.
Dave.
Thats no problem. Should be able to make a profitKey word there is "investor", they invest and they expect a return on investment!!
You're right that people coming into the sport are going to be priced out of it, especially competitive shooting which for the most part has been struggling for years to increase participation.I feel badly for those new to the sport. It’s a poor time to be getting started in reloading. I do however have no pity for guys who have been shooting and reloading for years but failed to plan ahead.
