Post Office is overwhelmed

FedEx took 7 days from pick up, to damaged shipment, to returned to sender and never even came close to my state. Just got a "package delivered" from UPS from a different order/different company and guess what, no package! They said it was delivered to my mailbox by the local USPS. Checked, regular mail was there, NO PACKAGE! None of these deliveries had to go through the hurricane disaster area. Is there something in the air or what!

A few years ago i ordered a part for my truck from tx. It got to atlanta, sat for 3 days and then went to puerto rico where it vacationed for a week before coming back to atlanta for 2 more days. The went to dc, then to nj for 3 days before going back to dc for 2 days after which it finally went to baltimore.

In the 80's I was a tender for a while and that's what we did was build nice fireplaces up in mountain communities, We did some block walls and such too, But mostly cool fireplaces. I learned pretty quick that shoveling sand and pushing wheelbarrows up hills and ramps wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I can't blame the immigrants for wanting to come here, That's what I would do if I was in that Cartel infested schitt-hole too. I'm glad you were able to make a living without having to hire them. My brother was a hardwood floor mechanic, The immigrants have infiltrated all the trades that Americans used to do. That's one thing I like about where I live, It's happening here, But there is a very small percentage of non citizens here.
You go to the mom and pop fast food places, The car washes, Just about everything here it's high school kids working there, Not border crossers.

Edit to add:

I forgot to mention, Like you said about the CCC. There is a beautiful Campground built by the CCC in the 30's up above Leeds Utah that has very nice Buildings that were made from rock they gathered up from the surrounding areas and it's like you said, Wow! What beautiful Craftsmanship! That's what is lacking today, People don't take pride in their work at all. Not everyone, But most just don't care.

My mail carrier puts my mail in neighbors boxes and I get others mail too. That used to be a big no no and mail carriers would get into serious trouble for that and they would only do it once. Not anymo
Being s mason's tender is hard work. Most guys don't last one day.

When I was a kid my good friend's Dad was a postman. Back then, all of the people at the postal centers were vets. All men. His Dad was in combat in Korea and Vietnam and retired as a drill instructor at Fort Sill. All of the guys he worked with were vets. Most of them combat vets. Pretty much 100 percent.

My post offices here have almost no men at all. Maybe one in 10. My post man is a nice guy, but I'm pretty sure he's high every day. Here in Oklahoma, where weed is called "medicine" (and essentially is nearly free for anyone to buy) a large percentage of people you encounter are high all the time. I'm not joking. I mean highhhh... I had a lady nearly fall asleep at the Braums ice cream halfway through making my banana split. Every stoplight smells like a Grateful Dead concert.

I mean really? Is this all that shocking considering what is happening in the world?
Yesterday I was in a bottle shop to get some beer. A female route postal employee was waiting for some take out as they also have a sandwich shop. I left her go ahead of me and she checked out with a sandwich, fries and 3 little shot bottles of vodka. I said to the cashier I bet the mail gets put in the wrong boxes after her lunch. She said that`s her diet everyday. I guess if they are buzzed they are less likely to go postal.

I have sent some packages out to people from the beginning of the week They are still sitting in the P/O according to the tracking numbers.
Talked to the Post Master and they stated due to the storms a huge backlog is staged and with Columbus Day on Monday.
The backlog grows.
I understand this. So please all be patient waiting for your stuff.
Shipped a nice stock to a fellow shooter in MO, I am in NW FL. After a week the tracker showed it still sitting in my local PO, was supposed to be delivered 10/18, was actually delivered 10/25. The frustrating part is that it showed it sitting in my local PO for 8 days.........

I don't often say too much on the Post Office as I did almost 34 years with them and I want my retirement check to keep flowing. However, a couple of weeks ago I sent a small box Priority Mail from NV. to VA. The guy said it would take 7-10 days! I remember when Priority Mail started it was touted as 2-3 days service and many times that was the norm. I know the big wigs were crying the blues because customers were using Priority instead of Express Mail which cost more. Oh, the package took 9 days. LOL.

For $19 a year you can pay UPS to upgrade your account with their CHOICE program so they don't send it to USPS. I know WTF but.... The turn over rate here is so bad, it's better than not getting your package or what ever is coming USPS from UPS. They all got there hand out. I don't have a mail box just a gang box a mile away. Some other person has the same numerical address on a different street, so the mailman gets them mixed up often. I get a notice mail is delivered, go down there and no mail.
It also allows you to hold a delivery if you are away. I also can have the package delivered to a UPS store if I don't want it sitting on the porch.

USPS website says 1-3 days now. I challenge anybody to find a better example of what happens when you put non business people, or people with no common sense, in charge of running a business. Wait, a better example would be a politician being president. Yep, absolute fustercluck.

Early this year I sent 3 Remington 541 triggers to Brian Voelker for him to work his magic. ALL mail here goes through Birmingham whether outgoing or incoming. The triggers made it up there on schedule and Mr Voelker got them done and headed back in short order. They got back to Birmingham and disappeared. These 3 triggers would be extremely hard to place IF it could happen at all. After 8 days the tracking picked up as received at B'ham and 2 days later I had them in hand. I live about an hour from B'ham and wish it had been possible to drive down and get my property but of course that's not allowed. I quizzed the local postmaster about it and she said there were changes in the works and that things would only get worse. That info was hard to digest.

FWIW, those triggers are amazing now that they're back on their respective host weapons

4 of the 4 deliveries I had coming were messed up. One was damaged and had to be replaced. One was lost and marked "delivered" even though it wasn't. One was marked "delivered" and didn't actually get delivered for 10 days after it was "delivered". One was late but, I was notified that it would be a day late.

I ordered some bullets from Midway they been in St Louis 3 times now sitting in a post office outside St Louis . Hoping someday they will make it to central Illinois .

Not sure what happened - but 2 reamers that I'm waiting for left Manson's, had a holiday around Chicago, then got delivered to Manson's . I was following the tracker. I emailed ( last Thursday) and they agreed that they had them back - but no word since. All a bit of a PITA.

I’ve been waiting for nearly a month now for a letter to make it where it needs to… and the payment inside.

A couple months ago, a sender transposed one digit of the zip code on a package sent to me. We both watched it bounce back and forth between NC and VA accumulating around 1200 miles in travel. We both had contacted customer service in USPS, I actually had written on the request “that could a live person actually intercept the package and make sure it made it where it needed to go”. It was, and delivered on a Sunday no less.
