Polishing bullets

Precisely. I may have to change my screen name though. Jumped on another forum and used the same screen name. You'd think I'd posted up pics of an aborted fetus'. Sensitive bunch.
"sensitive bunch"?????

really???

Maybe try "Donald Trump" or "Chesty Puller" or "Barack Obama" or "Chief Justice Scalia" next time..... see how that rubs 'em eh ;) ..... schucks, go for the gusto since you've gone down the fetus road, why'ncha' grab up "Chris Kyle" before somebody else does......I mean, we all should know you ain't really him, just playin'...... fer FUN guys.....

I have had some boxes of bullets for decades and yes some had a little green and white on exposed lead. I did a short experiment. I put 2 boxes in a rock tumbler that turns fairly slow and added water , dawn (one 1/2 a teaspoon and a very small amount of lemishine to control the suds. I ran the first load for a half hour, rinsed and dryed. I used a 0-1 inch mic and no measurable loss of any jacket material. They came out like brand new. I also tried a few tablespoons of pins from my case tumbler which did a great job.

Actually, the real Carlos Hathcock is a friend of mine. Made me check your profile to see if it was him when I first noticed it here. Doesn’t do much shooting anymore, but you’ll find him chasing bass anytime he can get the boat out.

His son shot for the USMC, and coached me in LRFS at Perry in 1999. He’s retired from the Marines now, still very much alive, and as I said, spends an inordinate time fishing. Great guy, big footsteps to follow in.

He got into a scuffle with a pro fisherman a few years ago that was secretly filmed when the pro came in on him (carlos) and he didnt bow down to him. The pro got butthurt enough he sued carlos or his agent did or whatever for all kinds of bs. Carlos was strong willed enough he got banned from our fishing forum after speaking out. It was a big deal in virginia and on the internet for quite a while. Hes a good guy for sure. I was figuring this was him here since he used his real name and had a pretty big internet presence. Carlos sr grew up where i did in arkansas.

Sorry Kev..... Carlos died 20yrs ago. I know because I got the last 5 signatures he ever scrawled for 5 copies of his book. Norm and Rocky "had to go wake him up" to get him to sign. Couple days later I heard he's passed

R.I.P. Carlos..... I raise a glass to you

I'm sorry....... I shoulda' read on instead of stopping to answer this post.

my bad

.

A good way to measure the effect (if any) of the polishing the bullets versus using it right after the press (with the lube on it), would be shooting both and see if there is any precision issues, right?

I never shot the bullets right out of the press with the lube... I tought it would be no good (but dont know why...)

With brass that clean you'd be wearing white gloves to seat the bullets. Kinda makes me want to cry. My brass is always the nastiest brass at the range. I always get... why don't you clean your brass? My thoughts if it's working don't change it.

Darrin
Occasionally I use some steel whole on the necks and shoulder but my brass also tends to be the dirtiest on the range too. It works and that is what matters.

I
Apparently not. The other forum is still feeding on my screen name like Hyenas at a Wildebeast carcas. This forum seems to be a little more laid back. Anyway, more super brass....

I find it interesting that people get upset when I decide to use the name of a patriotic skilled American serviceman as a simple means of identifying my account. Had I chosen one such as "ilikeyungboys43" or something along those lines, would the response be the same? What names should be considered off limits and why exactly? How about someone explain this for me.

I don’t care, personally. Free country and all. But it *is* someone’s actual name, and he has been a part of the shooting community. Funny thing is there was a post on a Facebook group where someone kind of gave him a little shit for using his own name, not realizing that it was him. He seemed used to it.

I'm confused. You're saying the actual CH used his name when posting on Facebook? What if I chose George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, or Oliver North?

That's bullshit. Facebook was launched in 2004 to Harvard students only and made available to the general public in 2006 so he must of posted things from the grave. Where do people come up with this shit?

Yes. Carlos Hathcock posted on Facebook and someone didn’t think he was actually Carlos Hathcock and gave him a little shit for being dead. To his credit he apologized once he realized his error. He’s real and using is name is at best confusing.

Carlos Hathcock’s son, also named Carlos Hathcock, is still very much alive. You made the same mistake the guy on Facebook did.

I believe that the sniper Carlos Hathcock named his son Carlos Hathcock III...
