Perplexing load results with 6.5 Swede SE

Hammer47

I suffer fools poorly.
Have done loads of ladder tests with various cartridges but have never run into this "problem".

Modern 6.5 x 55 Swede Mauser SE
130 Berger at lands
Kreiger 30 inch 8 twist bbl with brake on Kelbly Atlas action, all smithed at Kelbly's
10 rounds IMR 4064 powder beginning with 40.3 and increasing .3 with every shot to 43.0 gns.
Pre thunderstorm "dead calm" temp 75 humidity 70...estimated

All 10 rounds formed a ROUND one inch group at 300 yds... no vertical stringing to speak of. What is this group telling me? Had almost the same results with Re15. 4350 was a joke.

Love the results, just don't understand them.

I feed my Swede Imp a steady diet of h4831. Good to see the faster powders putting down GOOD numbers.

Were these the 6.5 130 VLD bullets or 6.5 AR/OTM bullets?

Ya tough problem to have.

I'm lucky that I have a couple barrels that won't shoot over a minute at 300 for ladders/ seating tests/ development. Just tried two random loads yesterday a full grain apart, both shot under 2" at 300 and with SD of 8 and 11. Like whatever just load and go.

The benefit is that now you actually have to pay attention and drive as well as the barrel shoots.

Stretch it out to 600 yards or more and/or run it with a chrono for the velocities.
Regardless you seem to have good combination.

I love these bullets !!! Actually with RE16 I never had a load much over half moa @100yds during load development. Very forgiving for reloaders that don't have much shooting time.

It would be interesting to see the velocity results. As stated above, take it to 600 yds, I suspect you'll see some vertical separation then. Sounds like you've got real accurate swede.

I love either round or "baseball diamond" shaped groups. These are indicators of an extremely good barrel. "UGLY", as in wildly "disorganized" groups, will normally never hold good groupings, especially further out. The "ugly" part (shots) of the groups seem to have a propensity to become flyers out at 500 and beyond.. With really nice tight round groups flyers are kept at bay!
