New Speer 'Deep Curl' bullet

Yeah it's replaceing the TBBC :o. Bear Claw or Deep Curl which sounds like a better bullet to you ? I'm pretty well stocked with the TBBCs so it'll be 25-30 years before I hafta buy any CURLERS ::)

If they shoot as well as the Federal fusion bullet and perform as well, then I will just have to 'build a bridge' and get over that curly shirley temple name. :)

Love Hotcore bullets, can barely afford BearClaws, but what works,WORKS! Lead-Bonded is best, agreed! Yet Lead containing bullets are on their way out in many areas of the country. So what's next? Monolithic Copper or Guilded bullets? The acceptance seems slow to come. BUT what are the alternatives? Solid Silvex jacketed fare? How about $2.00 for a naked bullet? We are getting close to that pricey price now. Thank you California for starting a trend of lead-free hunting bullets, even if BONDED-LEAD bullets are the deadliest to date. Deep-Curl seems too late in the evolution of "modern" bullets. I am working exclusively with BARNES TSX bullets (lead-free) to create the maximum potency with what will surely be what we are left with in the near future of hunting fare. Cliffy

I do not wish to read whatever superceded mine at this time. Thank you for the notification, however. Cliffy

I hope deepcurl bullets shoot as good as they look. Barnes bullets are nice but too HIGH priced. The 180 tsx through a 300 rum is great for shooting Nilgai!!

Barnes TSX bullets are not so high-priced as Trophy-Bonded BearClaw fare. Maybe Deep-Curlers can best these buck-a-shot bullets. Great bullets at less than a buck-apiece can capture the reloading market. So far, Nosler Partition bullets are the best-for-the-price performancewise. These came about in 1947, and still dominate the market regarding dependable kills per dollar spent. Cliffy

Ive found the TSX series to do all Ive asked. Entance wound lotsa disrupted functions and a moderate sized exit wound to leave a very good blood trail, Except of the 7mm 120gr that disappeared- no exit no bullet? But he whitetail just lay down and didnt move. All iuse now is partions and TSX. If ones not accurate the other is. Cheap bullets can work or they can give you "cheap" terminal ballistics. It really is cheaper to shoot everthing only once.

I have shot the 180 grain .308 cal bullets and am very satisfied with them so far, they shoot the best out of my 300 win mag

+ 1 on Cliffy's post for me.

the weight retention is very simular to the nosler accubond. I have never shot the hot cores, my uncle says they were a very good bullet. I know the deepcurl is also.

After visiting the speer site I now know where the name came from.If you look at the fired bullet the point of the bullet curls back through expansion and kinda reminds me of black talon pictures way back when. This bullet looks to be the next best thing in controlled expansion. It really looks promising but time will tell.

jon,
When were you @ the speer plant? I work there. Many of the machinists and Electricians are my friends.

Then tell us why they call it the deep curl bullet. Can you get any? I was just making an observation. It may have a whole other meaning .I didnt mean to upset anyone.

jon,
I don't know why they call them deep curl. I think I can get them.I have read and reread these posts and can't figure out the upset part, I was going to pm you but decided to just answer your post. Knowing what you do by reading your profile, and the best friends I have here on the speer plant are machinists and electricians I thought it was neat you were here and you probably talked to some of the machinists that I know and heck I might have even seen you while you were here and didn't even know it.I will find out why they are called hot curl and I apologize if I said anything wrong, it definetly wasn't meant anything but good.I just thought it was neat you were here @ my place of work.
