Need more shoulder bump. Special shell holder?

@DLT
I agree with you IF YOU CAN SET UP YOUR PRESS/DIE for the Competition set.
The OP runs out of set up room (die bottoms out) on stock die.
"and with a standard shell holder and Forster sizing die I can’t get enough shoulder bump."

Correct (the way I read his TITLE and first post).
His cases are long and can't shorten enough with his set up.

Sounds like a die problem.
Once the die hits the shell holder, your bump be done.
I have a hard stop press and can set the die for more or less bump.
Screw the die out (Redding Body Die) for less bump, not touching an As Fired AR case, and in for more bump,
enough to make a scrap piece of brass, BTDT.

The solution is to buy the Competition Shell Holders and grind them down for more bump :)
Why?….. why grind a $10 shell holder when you can take a cheap stock one that we all have hundreds of laying around and grind it down. This is not rocket science!… many on this forum have done it for years. If you don’t want to grind your $.50 shell holder chuck your die in the lathe and take a little off it, I find the shell holder much easier.

48 posts, 3 pages, Saturday to Monday, and some just don't get the Competition Set.
Sometimes you have to jostle folks to get them to understand.
Minus in one place means plus in another. Less means more :)
This is NOT a NEW misunderstanding.

BTW, has anyone EVER had a Redding Body Die that you could not get enough bump?

I believe you DO understand them. (hope I didn't offend you).
So do SOME of the posters in this thread.

@Old Navy If the chamber was cut to SHALLOW you might not be able to get enough bump. The Competition Set would/might help in that case.
It is late and my head hurts. I will have to think about that tomorrow.

Grind 0.006" off each and get 0.004" more through 0.004" less bump.

I’m not a total idiot all though I have done some dumb things but you have lost me officially with that post. I know how they work but can’t pick up what you’re putting down. I’m just glad I don’t have whatever problem op is having. Carry on

I just started reloading for 6ARC, and with a standard shell holder and Forster sizing die I can’t get enough shoulder bump. I have ground down a couple other shell holders for other calibers, but I was wondering if anyone sells shell holders that have dimensions equal to those that have been ground down, for this case scenario. I don’t feel like grinding this down like the others. I do it rather crudely, and I would rather have it completely squared to the face of the die. It seems rather common. Thanks in advance!
Have you tried sb dies. I think rcbs sb dies will fix your problem.

Rockervapor,
I get it, or I think I do!! Lol. I believe, since the day they were first offered, the Redding Competition Shell Holder sets have caused more confusion than actually fixing the problem most people experience with dies. Easy peasy. Lol.

They play a little mind game alright.
I do use mine all the time though. Set up die with the +.010 shell holder first, then if you need more bump you have more shell holders to get it done.
