Need advice from the quarter bore fans

25-06 + 90gr Absolute Hammers running over 3600 have worked great for me on deer. 4 shots, 4 dead deer. None of them went more than 40 yards.

I've been shooting Qtr bores since the 80's, I have found no better bullet than a Speer 120 gr SPBT, I've shot deer at just about every angle imaginable over the years, 99% of the time they give me complete penetration , massive damage, and great blood trails. I shot a buck at 400 yds last year right behind the shoulder on one side with an exit just in front of the shoulder on the other side. My Roberts pushes this bullet at 2925 fps, it shoots 5 into less than .75" with boring regularity, easy on the shoulder, fun to shoot. Dont overlook those cheap Speer bullets, their BC is as good as the Berger 115 VLD, and with the results I have seen over the years it'd be hard to prove a better bullet for a .25 cal. Enjoy!

Built a .250 AI on a 700 action in 2014 based on a PS article by the late Glenn Boroughs. At that time .250 brass in RP and WW could be had. Intent was for short range deer from an elevated stand for marshes. Didn't really need it, but wanted one because it impressed me and would be the ticket to hand down to grandkids just starting out. Already had a 250-3000 mdl. 99 Sav. Wears a simple 6x M8 scope and absolutely no regrets. Has taken a few deer with 100 NBT's - one shot only needed. Too many options to get around the brass issue.

I’ve shot my .250AI for quite a few years and I must say it is probably my favorite non-ppc cartridge. Mine loves Nosler 110 Accubonds pushed by a case full of H4350 or a 100 grn. BT in front of a bunch of H414 lit by a magnum primer. There should be plenty of 22-250 brass available, all you need is an expander to move it to .25. That’s mine I’m leaning on with my Alberta wolf.
