Need advice from the quarter bore fans

Except that it's not the 250 Savage AI the OP is wanting.

I've been down the wanted one gun, settled on something else.
It sucks!
You end up doing the gun you wanted anyways, and never shoot the settled on gun.
The OP stated he can't find brass for the 250 so settled in the 25 CM. He now wants opinions on bullet and weights vs the same in 6.5 bullet weights. I think the 25CM is certainly a good second option due to his anorexic brass issues. I guess that's how I read his opening post.

I wonder how long it's going to be until he builds his 250AI?

Personally I would have done a 25-284.
He'd have been pickled tink with THAT cartridge!

Course the only thing I can get behind with CM in the name is Centimeters. ;)

I felt that way when the 6.5CM came out and all I heard was how superior it was to all 6.5s. Kinda threw up in my mouth. I feel different about the 25CM and 22 CM. Wish they'd have called them something else but that didn't happen. No fault of the cartridge. Just be nice to buy brass already made for the chamber. I think the 25 Grendel has a nice ring to it.

I'll admit to not minding, maybe even wanting, a 25 PRC.

So long as they don't do what they did with the 7 PRC.
IE chamber it long for the 135gr bullets.
Would totally screw me from using the 1,000 Berger 115gr VLDs that i have on hand.

I am leaning towards a 25 souper w 30 degree shoulder. will probably shoot 115 gr bullets. and work on straightening the case. I read the name of this cartridge a day or two ago, cannot remember the name of cart. fairly old idea. I have short actions and medium to longer length actions so that is not an issue. One of the smartest guys on this board said he may go the 25 CM. That speaks volumes!

Already looking at the reamer. Talked to them and they said it's perfect for 115 grain Bergers, ELDs and TGKs. Get a custom reamer for the bullet you want to use. Super easy to use a uni-throater to increase the throat of needed.

Doubt they will but I think if Hornady came out with a factory available 25 Creedmoor designed around the 134 ELD-M or something similar in a ELD-X bullet it would quickly become the most popular 25 caliber available. But, considering factory 25 cals are minimally popular at best, being the most popular 25 cal on the market wouldn't take much.

I don't think 2900-2900+ would be very difficult to achieve in factory loaded 25 Creedmoor w/134's and with it being such an easy cartridge to make I could easily see Berger jumping on it and loading their 133 or 135 in factory 25 CM ammo and hitting 2900 pretty easily.

A 25 PRC would be a pretty nice factory cartridge as well but I think a 25 Creed would be more popular not to mention quite a bit easier on throats.

I was wanting to build a 250ai but current brass offerings are not ther so i think i settled for the 25 creedmore it will be on a kelblys short action or i would go the 257 bob route. This is going to be a hunting rifle and my question is do the lower weight bullets in the 100 to 120grn classes offer an advantage over say higher grain 6mm or lower grain 6.5mm bullets?

Try to keep the bias of your love for the caliber at bay LOL
Since it's a hunting rifle my experience is yes and no, all depends on your application. What are you hunting and what distance are you anticipating? I've hunted and culled deer with various 6mm, 6.5mm and 25's certain combos seem to work better than others.

I've built a few .25 Creeds for hunting.. Believe all have been 10'' twist barrels and all have shot very well. Used the 115 Berger and the 100NBT. I like the 100 Nosler a lot, It kills stuff very well. Probably killed a dozen coyotes or more and many more pigs and deer, hits way above what you'd expect.
6,5 Lapua brass is easily necked down in a Redding 6.5 creed Type S die with the appropriate neck bushing. The small primer pocket of the Lapua withstands pressure better than the large pocket version, IMO. Personally, I'd take it over any other short action .25 and I've used a lot of 'em. As has been said it is the easy button, also the best, lol..

If you can find some, the 115gr NBT work better than the 100gr.
At least in my 257 Roberts.
Haven't had a deer go more than 20 yards with them.

I am choosing between a few different 25 options. your thoughts on 25CM vs 25Souper w 30 degree shoulder, if you don't mind?

Just like the 6.5CM & 260 Rem.
If you can seat the bullet out in a bolt rifle, the 25 Souper will have a slight increase in case capacity.

You'll not be able to tell the difference between the two though.

That said, dies for the 25 CM will probably be easier to find, and less expensive.

Brass for a .250 AI should not be a problem, just buy some 22-250 brass and an expander mandrel. I’ve had an affair with .25s since I bought one of the first 25-06 model 700s Remington shipped about 1970+-. I currently have a .250 AI, a .25-06, and 2 .257 Weatherbys. The .250 is my favorite. Thats it I’m leaning on in the photo. 100 grn. Nosler and a heavy dose of H414 did the trick.

I like my 257 bob with the 110 tgk’s. With reloder 23 i can push them 2950 fps in a 20”’barrel. Bullets got good bc, ive shot them to 1375 yards. Killed one deer at 350. Performed well. Just sucks you cant find them anywhere

Idk how the 110 eldx compares or the accubonds. I have 115 ballistic tips to try next.
