My dealing with Sharp Shooters Supply

Surprise ! This is not a bashing post! I posted about a month ago looking for someone else who could do Fishnet Bolt fluting but said I was afraid of their track record. I posted that I couldn't find anyone else to do it. A member here said my choice was simple - go with them or go without. He said he'd had no problems with them. I did send an email to Lisa and also my phone #. I got a prompt response to my email and when Fred was planning to start them,so I emailed about a week in advance, shipped them in and just got all 8 back two weeks after I sent them . They have SEVERAL colors which are not shown but which Lisa described and sent an email with the color swatches on it .Whomever said on here, do or don't are your choices- thank you. You don't need to post horror stories on here, as they have been posted enough .This is just a positive experience . I would do business with them again fully realizing that they may deserve some of their bad press, but this time they don't !!! In short- do or don't. It can be a good experience!

Good to hear. Used them for many years and then avoided them for many years. Maybe it's time to give them another try. Thanks for your post.

Sometimes you just have to try things yourself to really see.
Perfect example:
Picked up a "Wilson" barrel for a wildcat project from an auction site. Two available but I was only able to snag one of them.:) Didn't want to spend BIG $$ on a barrel and not be happy with the caliber. Was told that "Wilson" barrels were junk.? Not lapped, etc. Some folks are stuck in their old ways.
Had the barrel chambered up. Come to find out it's one of my better choices. Shoots bug holes and cleans as smooth as silk. On the lookout for more Wilson barrels for sale.

I've had a complete rifle made , trued action with a 2oz trigger and parts from SSS. Everything was 1st class work. Parts were shipped in a timely fashion. Remember, Fred does not make his own barrel blanks or stocks .He relies on other vendors. This is where wait times can go down hill. Relying on other people to meet their delivery dates .

When I talked to Wilson barrel a couple years ago , I ask if they hand lapped their barrels? They said their barrel were lapped but they didn't hand lap them.

Don't let our secret out...

So parts don't show up on time, Fred gets caught in the middle and he ends up being the bad guy.
Try having a custom rifle or stock built. Could take up a year to get what you want. Patience IS a virtue.
Never had issues with SSS. Might take a while at times but they always come thru.

I have to agree. I have been dealing with Fred and Lisa for 8 years or so. I have always just bought various parts and stocks. A couple years ago I contacted Lisa about chambering a barrel as well as installing an Evolution trigger and timing and truing the action.I believe Fred is scheduling much more carefully these days as I sent the barrel and action in when Lisa told me to and I received barrel and action back in what I thought was a reasonable time.. Bear in mind, I shoot with guys that have had chambering take anything from "while you wait" to over a year! I got mine back in the time frame it was promised. Then, I recently sent out a new 7mm barrel for my heavy /F Class gun and again, once Lisa said,"send it' it took about what she said it would take. That is fine with me. Fred's workmanship is second to none and fairly priced. And, I like the two SSS bench rest stocks I have. My action feels just like my friends' $2000 actions and my trigger never once slam fired during my recent long loaded fire sizing efforts on 100 cases. And the 2 oz let-off is so sweet!

Define "reasonable time" and "the time frame it was promised".

Two weeks, two months, a year...
Told me the day Fred was going to start them ,which was Monday and that she'd be gone until Friday. On Friday I was told they were done and waiting for her to ship them out.Got the tracking number and they were in my hands the next week. I am a happy camper,as everything fell into place for me.All I'm saying is that this experience was very positive for me .His work is excellent, BUT DON'T ask for it tomorrow! They've earned this and possibly SOME of the poor ones. I'm not going to get into that here.

I agree. If they tell you they will ship an item out tomorrow and you don't get it for a month, be patient, it will get there eventually. Then another month goes by, be patient, it's it been 2 months since they shipped it out. Patience is a virtue ! Some people have that kind of patience and some do not. Don't plan on your project getting done for at least a year if you send them your work. I purchase fishnet bolt bodies from them often and they DO show up in a reasonable time. I do not send money until she calls or emails and let's me know Fred has them finished. Constant contact is what I found out has to happen. Then you know where things are and what phase they are in. Shouldn't be like that but it is what it is.
