My 6BR in 300yd F-class. Which bullet?

A 6BR with 90gr BT Berger is a killer out to 400Y.
They work really good with 1:10” twist, and like a small jump when using H4895.

My F-Open 6BR weighs 18 pounds. I shoot 105 Bergers at ~2965. I have to say that recoil is not in my scope of concern. The rifle barely moves when shot free recoil.

Hybrids now, but VLD before they were available. Both work well. If I could not get Hybrids, I would gladly shoot VLDs.

Haven't tried the 87gr, but did try the 88 Grain High BC FB and could not get them to group out of my rifles.
I was really interested in making it work due to it being FB, but they did not group no matter what I tried.
Other people have had good luck with them though.

Do you mean the 200/300 UBR Nationals...at Somerset in July? That match is why I'm toying with a similar setup...a 10 twist 6 Grendel with either 87 or 90gr bullets. After last Saturday, I'm convinced it's working pretty well now, after a little tuning and load work. It's REALLL close.

Hi starting at 32 up to 33.40 as with everything start low and work up but no pressure signs every rifle is different again start low hope this helps

Im very surprised more people arent using lighter 95gn bullets for 300y. If you check the ballistics of lighter 95gn loads at the higher velocity possible, the wind drift is about the same as 105s at 300, but you have the advantage of lower recoil and less hold/bag set up sensitive.

Recently shot a club match using 95 gr Berger BT in my 6BR. I was very pleased with the results at 300 yds. Actually shot targets at 100, 200 & 300 yds. Did that all with the same bullet and load. 300 yds was a real challenge with really bad mirage and some wind. 100 & 200 were great. If I had my choice however, I would have preferred to use 108s at 300. Had some loaded but failed to bring with me to the match.

Does the N150 give you consistent results with the 108? Your targets look great. Just curious how temps my change things. I am a big fan of N133 in my 6ppc.

Im interested to hear if you were able to get more consistent accuracy at 300y with the 90s.

After trying a box of 100 90 grainers, they were grouping outstandingly with them. I just bought a box of 1000, and they will be next year’s bullet for me. Thanks for the advice as always guys!

A bit late, but I'll throw in my 2 cents for people searching. I would use something in the 103-107 weight range. You can get excellent accuracy, and wind still matters a lot at 300. I don't think the slight accuracy advantage (potentially - if you've got a slower optimized twist) of the 90s is worth the little bit of wind you give up, but that's a personal choice.

There are several customs available in the 103-105 range, the Berger 105s, and Sierra 107s. Are all good choices in my experience.

My best 300-400 yard load is with 105 Scenar "L" bullets, soft jam and Varget. Have shot as small as small as .293" 5-shots at 400. For me - that is as small as it gets. That is with my Heavy Varmint barrel in 1-8"

Even though the twist rate might not be optimal (‘over twisted’) would you consider a flat base bullet for 300yds that our BR colleagues use?
