6Br NEWBIE ! WOW

Well.... you have a gun and cartridge that is easily capable of 2" groups at 600 yards, and no bs here, but you should definitely be able to do that at 500 yards without issue.

But isn’t that 2” group contingent on the Newbie driving the rifle ???

Thank You ! You don’t think the 28.1 will handicap me in F Class ? I read where guys are using 30 plus grains !

Ok, if you play with the ballistics calculators:

107SMK running 2750fps. You click for a 10mph wind (54 inches), but it's only 8mph (43.2 inches), you'll miss by 10.8 inches at 1000 yards

107SMK running 2850fps. You click for a 10mph wind (51 inches), but it's only 8mph (40.8 inches), you'll miss by 10.2 inches at 1000 yards

That extra 100fps would only save you 0.6 inches at 1000 yards! Speed, as mentioned, does very little to fix or cover up mistakes.

2” at 600 yards ???? Man that’s tight . I’ve only got 500 yards and if I can shoot a 2” group at 500 yards I might pee myself ! Lol

There are several competitors shooting under 2. Inch at 600 yard in light gun -5 shots
Hg 10 shots is a little more difficult. WR is 1.9 100 points 7 x
NBRSA

Just a friendly reminder......Speed doesn't win matches!!!;)
At mid range it darn sure helps though.

What about the wind?

At 300 yards I don’t notice it much , but at 500 yards I can really see the effects of my breathing on the crosshairs . I breath in crosshairs go left . I breath out crosshairs go back to POA and then I shoot . Wish I could keep crosshairs from moving . Any suggestions ? Using almost free recoil . Ultralight hold on rifle !

No eliminating it. It's part of the sport. Breath control is crucial. Breaking the trigger on a slow smooth exhale helps keep the gun in a steady state

i remember my first 6br. pretty much the same youve got. savage with a shilen, loved it.
you're in for it now though! next will come the custom action, jewell trigger, cut rifling barrel, manners/mcmillan stock, you'll probably graduate into a BR improved case like the Dasher..
is all that extra worth it? yep! lol
good shooting, have fun with it!
