I know of two older shooters that are getting out of the sport and turning to fishing. Just too much hassle for them so they claim. I'm not quite there yet but when my existing supplies are gone and if I'm still alive, it may come to that for me also more due to the outrageous prices for components I've seen. If crazy gun legislation is passed that will push me closer to retiring from the sport. I guess that's what the libs want.

The overdevelopment in my area is also limiting hunting opportunities which is another factor. I'm an avid varmint hunter and if I'm forced to give that up then that will be another factor pushing me to retire from the sport. I've had a good run so if it happens, so be it.

The ranges I frequent have been fairly abandoned since early spring. That's nice for me but not good for the future of the sport. Primers and bullets are non-existent at the shops I visit. If I manage my inventory carefully and limit my range shooting I might make it another two years if these shortages and excessive prices persist. I live to hunt ghogs. Spear hunting anyone?

Gee, I just realized how depressing my post is, sorry. I not depressed about the situation however. The world I grew up in and know is vanishing. Not sure what the hell is going on, 20 robo calls a day, everything is so complicated and expensive, doesn't seem to be any commitment to duty, honor or county or personal accountability anymore. Let me add, everything it seems is now run by computers - maybe the movie the Terminator wasn't too far from an inside view of the future.

Yeah, what shortage? After Obama and during Trump, it was time to stock up. Those that weren't in their first rodeo did just that. In reference to the OP, I've talked to some that won't shoot the ammo they have. They're "saving" it because they don't know when they'll be able to buy more. Reminds me of the gas lines back in the '70s.
wish we could go back to the price per gallon then.... I about had heart failure when gas hit 1.00 a gallon...remember that LOL with inflation and all current prices are not all that bad, I will _itch when we hit 5.00 a gallon though, here in commiefornia later this summer expect to do so

Yeah I am old enough to remember low prices on a lot of things, what is cheaper today than 40 years ago.

Quit shooting, nope ain’t gonna happen at my house.

A lot of snowflakes were doing the happy dance when the circus came to town. Well, wait till fuel gets done climbing. Let’s see where pork and beef prices end up before the end of summer.
I heard bean prices made a record drop today. So low grain prices and high fuel prices.
The producers are not the ones making the money either.

Mr Trump addressed such issues for ALL of us.

Maybe between the high groceries and the fuel, the scammers and hoarders will slow down. Then on the other hand, they don’t have a real job and they could well make it worse.

The gunshow this weekend in the sticks of WV found most every table stocked with ammo. Plenty here though prices are high. Most tables said the same thing: "Not selling anything." After my first primer shortage I promised to never be without powder, primers & bullets or 22LR. My shooting habits haven't changed & won't for several years to come.
