MO F-Class State Championship July 9-10, 2016

Great shooting and congrats to the Match Winners: James Laney and Greg Taylor.

Also, congrats to the Missouri State Champions (Missouri Residents):
Mike Jakubczak - F Open
Tommy Todd - F-T/R
Alex Muller - High Senior

It was warmer than we wanted but the scores show the intensity of the match. Was wiping sweat from my eyes with both hands on every shot nearly. James Laney and Greg Taylor dug in deep to shoot those scores on a very hot weekend. Congrats guys!
Oh yeah, the team match was such a train wreck by both the state open teams that we just awarded our bets to the rightful winners " The old and the beautiful" gang took us out!!

The Old and Beautiful team

John Acton
Rick Lovelace
Jeff O'Hare
Tracey Harold

Thanks to Ryan for running the match and Bucksnort for hosting. The match ran like clockwork as usual and it was good to see some familiar faces and get to meet some great people. The competition speaks for itself as you can the scores, over fourty 200's shot including the smoking 200-21x shot by Kevin Shepherd. safe travels to all those going home and thanks to all those who helped put this match together and those companies who donated to the prize table!

I've been beat like a drum before but nothing like the butt kicking Greg Taylor handed out to us FT-R guys and gals. Only dropping 10 points in a 160 shot match is unreal. At any distance. Congrats Greg, what a show.

On the open side, I had the privilege of shooting with James Laney today. Clean today and only dropping 3 points all weekend is just ridiculous. Like somebody said at the awards today, James is coming along as a shooter......

To Ryan and the "Death Before F Guys" what a match. I can't wait till next year!

Looks like we got two Greg Taylor's - Good shooting other me! :-D

We each have a doppelgänger ;). I noticed your name a while ago and did a double take. I'm not sharing the trophy or medals, though.

I definitely appreciate the kind words from everyone. I will certainly enjoy the success I was fortunate enough to have at the match for a while, but I will appreciate the opportunity I had to meet some very fine shooters and new friends this weekend a lot longer. Simply a fantastic bunch of folks. It was especially cool to finally meet some fellow shooters from here at the forum that I have only interacted with via the computer previously. Too many to name individually, but it's always great putting a face with the name, and I know I'll see many of you around at future matches. Really great shooting by a number of individuals. I also don't want to fail to mention that the F-TR field was very well-represented by .223 Rem shooters including Brad, Gene, myself, and possibly one or two others. I guess it's a very good thing none of us read the review of F-Class calibers that suggested .223 Rem is a poor choice for F-TR ;).

I also can't overemphasize what a great job Ryan did putting this match together and running it. A really outstanding job. As I mentioned earlier, if you have a chance to attend a match at Bucksnort, make every effort to do so, it will really be worth the trip.

I felt fortunate to have been there to witness such fine shooting; and not by just the winners, but by so many other competitors who shot great scores. It was gratifying to see an old friend, Kevin S., set a record; and a new friend, Greg T., shoot F-T/R with incredible skill. Thank you Ryan and crew for a superbly run match, I had a great time, learned a lot, and look forward to the next match at Bucksnort.

Alex

that is some good shooting. but it looks to me like 4 tens. at 600 with 0nly two sighters how can you have 4 tens and shoot 21 x's ?
The NRA approved match bulletin allowed for unlimited sighter on match 1 which this took place.
I can't think of a better person to have broke the record, for those that don't know Kevin he is a great guy, very modest and am proud to call him my friend, if i had won it I would have been unbareable for the next year.

Big shout-out to Ryan for putting on another great match, this is just a great range to shoot at. It was great seeing old friends and making some new ones, things didn't get as rowdy as usual maybe due to Russell not being there. Another big thank you to the sponsors of the match, there was some great prizes. I ended up with a nice certificate from Sierra Bullets which has always donated very generously to the match with bullets and refreshments.

I have been hearing about this record for a couple of days from shooting friends of mine. What I did not know is that it was Kevin Shepherd who shot it! I first shot with Kevin at the TSRA Mid-Range last year! He was "relatively" new to the sport and for all intents and purposes, he is still a fairly new shooter. He is one of those "Naturals" at his sport! He is an excellent shot! He excelled very quickly! In addition to being an excellent shot, he and his wife are EXCELLENT people indeed! Congratulations to Kevin and all those fine people who shoot with him!

Gotta chime in here a little too,....being the "new guy" to this F-Class stuff and having the privilege to shoot along side these guys this weekend, I can't begin to express enough how well this shoot was put together, and how well all the participants worked together in all areas of the shoot. Can honestly say these are some of the nicest and most helpful people (everyone) you'll ever meet! Thanks again to guys at Bucksnort for the unmeasurable amounts of hard work, to Norman H for talking me into making the trip and to everyone that was there for sealing the deal on a new found addiction!!
Looking forward to next year!
