Mixing MarineTex- Too Runny

When I mix marine text, per the instructions on the box, it's too runny in my opinion. What I'm basing my observation on is my previous experience with accuraglass. I really like the stiffness of that product.

Everywhere I read says marine text will be about like peanut butter. Like said, what I'm seeing is it's not quite that stiff, it won't hold it's self up very well. It slowly droops under its own weight.

My question is: do you guys modify your mixing tune up slightly or am I just that dense I can't mix a 2 part epoxy?

Marine-Tex is more sensitive to mix ratio than many other epoxies based on my experience using literally gallons of it on boats over the years. Great product, I just prefer others for small jobs like bedding.

Be sure your 5:1 mix by volume (or 6.3:1 by weight) is accurate.

Yep, the magic ratio is 6.3:1 by weight.
Don't alter the ratio to modify consistency, you'll compromise it's strength.

I have always mixed by volume, lay both parts out on a plastic piece cut out of a bottle, then use a screw driver and fold/stir/swirl until the color is consistent. I like the consistency of it, thick enough to stay put, but thin enough to smear where you need it.
