Hello
I've been making a stock here and there for some of my rifles. I like the process. I'm using carbon for the outer shell. Using the molding process, and vacuum bagging technique.
Anyway, it's the fill that I can't quite figure out. I've tired a bunch of different stuff, but currently I either use chopped carbon, or thickened west systems epoxy with filler for a peanut butter type fill.
These both work great, but my stock weight is pretty high. I just bought a flat top A5, and also saw something on youtube on McMillan, The fill looks like hardened clay almost, in the video there were packing the stuff if by hand.
Anyway, was wondering if anyone can point me in a material direction. I'll never become any kind of commercial stock maker, just looking to make better stocks for myself. Really looking for a good lightweight fill that can be machined. no foams
