McM Edge stocks?

Can these stocks be good for 600yard bench? Rem action, 28inch barrel. ????? let me know what you guys think. Good or bad. Thanks.

I use an Edge on my PPC for short range. Works great for that application.
Definately would'nt be my first choice for long range work.
Could it work? possibly. You did'ny say which caliber. How much recoil and twist do you expect this stock to handle while maintaining stability in the bags?

Short version. Its designed for low recoil short range precision. Built specifically to meet Short range BR rules. Take it out of that element and there are much better choices.

6Br no problem. 8 twist? Now theres a problem. If I were a betting man I'd bet that 8 twist would torque that stock around pretty good. The Edge is a very lightweight stock designed to get short range BR guns into Light Varmint class with ease. Yes, they usually come with the ability to add weight to the butt.
Its not an impossibility. For all I know someone might have set a 600yd record with one. Nonetheless there are much better stocks available for 600yds.
We haven't even broached the fact LR BR allows a flat raked butt while SR and the Edge has a rake.

I don't shoot long range but that does'nt mean I don't have long range rigs. The tourqe in the bags from my factory Sav F/O was tremendous. Switched to an offset low riding forearm and the torque is hardly noticable.
A pro might be able to make any stock shoot good. Guys like me need all the help we can get.

Like Joe said: I also am using a McMillan Edge for short range, (maximum 300 yd), with a 6ppc. Having another made by Kelbly for one of my 6BR's, primarily to be used with light weight bullets. Never used the Edge beyond 300 yards.

I have a HV Edge on an 8 twist 6BR 26 inch HV contour barrel with a Tungsten rod in the butt and a pair of Badger Max 50 rings (15.3 ounces just for the rings!) holding a Nightforce BR on a Surgeon 591 action. All this adds more weight with the rifle coming in at a tad over 16 pounds. Just got it together so have only shot it a few times but out to 500 meters (547 yards) it's shooting quite well. In fact with a bit more tweaking it just may outshoot my other 6BR.

Good point Danny entirely missed by me, The Edge does come in a Hv format to add weight.
Totally forgot about that.
Still would'nt suggest that stock design for long range. Mc Millian has much better options.
By the same point if I had an accurate rifle capable of holding that accuracy to 600 I'd shoot it to 600 ;D ;D

ive been using mine for both short range and long as i was short on funds and it may not be perfect,it has got me threw, last week we shot 550 yds and i shot 4 targets 2.5"2.6' 2.7" and 2.8" and last time i shot 1000 yds my 2 groups were 7.o9" and 7.9" and this was in 30/284 shooting 175 smks it is the edge with the wieght system, hope this has helped, cheers jack
