Why a 6PPC there are better calibers for distance. Your handy capping yourself from the start.I know this is an older post but because I’m thinking about trying this myself, I stumbled upon it.
I am thinking the longer 28” 6ppc might be a bit easier to tune with a barrel tuner? Maybe not but I’m thinking it might. If I don’t find this to be the case I know a fella with a few lathes and a saw.

Was wondering if you got your 6ppc going with the 28" barrel and with the tuner? How did it shoot and was it easier to tune with a tuner? That's what I'm thinking about doing myself. Did you go with a slower twist 1/12 or did you keep it 13 to 14 twist? Any information you have will certainly be appreciated.I know this is an older post but because I’m thinking about trying this myself, I stumbled upon it.

Mine is longer than yours? Out of hacksaw blades? Make a tomato stake if it doesn't shoot make aq tomato steak? Why did Remington not make deceit cases for the 6BR and have them available in the beginning Lou might never have messed with the 220 Russian.I saw a 6PPC bench rifle with a 28" barrel. I don't know the twist rate etc. My question is that is their a practical need or advantage for a 6ppc bench rifle to have a long barrel? Do folks shoot these in 600yard matches?
Thanks,
